Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA), deputy organizer - said that this year's forum will take place on September 25 with the theme "Industrial transformation, new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City".
Industrial transformation is the new driving force
In addition to the morning plenary session, in the afternoon there will be a policy dialogue session with ministries, central agencies, and consultants who can raise issues of concern, recommend solutions, and provide directions for the city to adapt to new development trends.
In addition, this is also an opportunity for city leaders to share messages about orientations and support policies, accompanying businesses in the process of industrial transformation.
Explaining the theme of the forum, the chairman of HUBA said that the city identified industrial transformation as a new driving force for growth and development in the coming time, in addition to the traditional driving forces that have existed before, such as Ho Chi Minh City being the hub, the center, the economic locomotive that continues to be promoted.
"The city wants to emphasize that industrial transformation creates new momentum and new resilience as well as brings added value in the adaptation process. This new momentum also creates a foundation for the city to go further, meet new demands of the world, and raise its level in the domestic market. The demand of world consumers for green products and services is increasingly higher," Mr. Hoa explained.
Not only that, industrial transformation will help the city's development become more sustainable, which is also a double transformation after the green development theme discussed in last year's forum.
Notably, within the framework of HEF 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will launch the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) headquartered in the High-Tech Park. This is the second center established in Southeast Asia, after C4IR Malaysia and the 19th center worldwide, marking the city's official membership in the World Economic Forum ecosystem.
Many interactive activities with people and businesses
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, HEF 2024 will have many activities related to businesses and people of the city throughout April to October 2024. Notably, Professor Klaus Schwab - founding chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) - will come to the city and have an inspirational talk with young people of Ho Chi Minh City.
HEF 2024 is expected to have the participation of the Prime Minister, leaders of central ministries and branches, city leaders; representatives of diplomatic agencies, consular agencies; foreign localities; international financial institutions (World Bank, IFC, ADB...).
There was also the participation of international organizations such as WEF, managers and leaders of foreign localities from 25 countries; domestic and foreign enterprises, about 50 domestic experts as well as experts from other countries.
These countries have achieved success in industrial transformation, innovation and sustainable development, and represent international local leaders who have friendly and cooperative relations with the city.
According to Mr. Hoa, this year's forum will discuss many topics. In particular, the plenary session will include introductory reports for parallel sessions: Megatrends on industrial transformation in the world;
Governance ecosystem and policies to promote industrial transformation; Industrial transformation strategy of Ho Chi Minh City in the context of regional, international connectivity and new technology trends; The role of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City associated with industrial transformation...
Three parallel sessions covered topics related to the role of C4IR, governance models of leading countries/localities in the industrial transformation process, thereby providing policy implications for developing countries such as Vietnam and the locality of Ho Chi Minh City.
The report of the Institute for Development Studies shows that the industrial transformation process will help Ho Chi Minh City enterprises improve their competitiveness and resilience to external shocks, increase market share, revenue and the ability to retain customers and partners; towards sustainable development, achieving both economic, social and environmental goals.
As the locality with the largest economic scale in the country, concentrating key economic activities, Ho Chi Minh City has a favorable foundation to experiment with industrial transformation policies.
However, this also brings many challenges when building and deploying support solutions to ensure efficiency and meet the needs of businesses in the process of industrial transformation.
