Ho Chi Minh City will recruit additional 10th graders earlier than expected.

Students admitted to grade 10 at Ernst Thälmann High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) submit their admission application and receive advice on registering for subject groups.

Mr. Nguyen Vo Dang Khoa, Deputy Head of the Examination and Quality Control Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that students admitted to grade 10 have completed the online enrollment confirmation period on the system. High schools will receive direct enrollment applications from students who have confirmed their enrollment from now until July 31. According to the process, after this period, schools with remaining enrollment quotas will conduct additional enrollment for grade 10.

However, according to Mr. Dang Khoa, the Department has directed high schools to speed up the application process to review the actual number of students enrolled at the schools. Therefore, the deadline for receiving applications will be earlier than planned, specifically on July 20.

The Deputy Head of the Examination Department said that this year, the Department of Education and Training applied digital transformation, students confirmed their enrollment online before enrolling directly. Therefore, through the system, the Department of Education and Training has grasped the number of each school. Many schools have an online enrollment rate of 100%. "However, we still want to grasp the data of students submitting applications directly to schools to have a suitable plan to recruit additional 10th graders. Because missing one quota will cause other students to lose the opportunity to enter public 10th grade. Therefore, it requires reviewing, calculating and having accurate data," Mr. Khoa informed.

From there, Mr. Khoa informed that after July 20, when high schools finish accepting applications for grade 10, the Department will announce the additional enrollment quota for grade 10 in each school. That is, the additional enrollment for grade 10 will be carried out 10 days earlier instead of after July 31 as previously planned.

Regarding the additional recruitment regulations, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the additional recruitment of grade 10 is only for students who have failed 3 wishes and have a higher standard score than or equal to the 3rd wish of the school with additional recruitment quota. Those who have submitted their application for admission to vocational schools, continuing education centers, etc., if they pass the additional recruitment, can still withdraw their application to enroll in public high schools that have additional recruitment.
