In particular, the economic scale has increased, with an average annual growth rate of over 14%; total social investment capital attracted in the past 10 years has reached over 423,000 billion VND; budget revenue has increased by an average of over 15% annually, contributing nearly 50% of the province's total revenue.

Notably, the average income per capita reached over 14,000 USD, 10 times higher than in 2003 and 3 times higher than the national average; the city no longer has poor households.
In the coming time, Ha Long City determines to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector, with services increasingly playing a leading role. In particular, by 2024, the total number of tourists will reach over 10 million; of which international visitors will reach 1.2 million; total revenue from tourism activities will reach 22,000 billion VND.
Mr. Vu Quyet Tien, Secretary of Ha Long City Party Committee, said that over the past 30 years, Ha Long City has achieved many outstanding achievements and results, pioneering, leading, and leading in breakthroughs, becoming a national-class and international service and tourism center, developing synchronous and modern infrastructure on the principle of "public investment leading private investment", contributing to the innovation of the Party's leadership method and sustainable local development management.
"In the coming time, the city will continue to innovate its management, leadership, direction, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, be flexible and creative to ensure the economic growth scenario. In particular, the city will focus on implementing 3 strategic breakthroughs, focusing on mobilizing all resources, diversifying investment forms, accelerating development speed and perfecting the synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure system, promoting regional connectivity; promoting administrative reform and improving the business investment environment, digital transformation; developing high-quality human resources ready to meet the requirements of economic development", said Mr. Vu Quyet Tien.
After the solemn ceremony, there was a special epic art program recreating the indomitable will of the land and people of ancient Hon Gai and present-day Ha Long through the ages, with the theme "Ha Long, the journey to develop the aspiration of a flying dragon".
