According to Reuters news agency, speaking in a program broadcast live on national television, President Maduro announced that Ms. Anabel Pereira was appointed as the new Minister of Finance.
Hector Obregon has been appointed as the new President of PDVSA, replacing Pedro Tellechea, who will be transferred to become Minister of Industry.
In addition, Mr. Delcy Rodriguez continues to hold the position of Vice President, but will concurrently hold the position of Venezuela's Minister of Oil.
Mr. Yvan Gil and Mr. Vladimir Padrino continue to hold the positions of Foreign Minister and Minister of Defense, respectively, while Mr. Diosdado Cabello - leader of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) - will assume the position of Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace.
President Maduro affirmed that the above changes are "a profound renewal of the government", and pledged that the members of the Cabinet will help the country "open new paths" and "accelerate the changes that the Venezuelan people need".
Previously, on August 22, the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela (TSJ) declared President Maduro the winner of the election on July 28.
The ruling, announced by Chief Justice Caryslia Rodriguez, stressed that the TSJ “certifies indisputably the electoral documents and confirms the results of the presidential election of July 28, 2024 announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE)”, naming Mr. Maduro as the winner.
