Venezuela, Malaysia want to learn from Vietnam's experience

On October 24, within the framework of attending the expanded BRICS Leaders' Summit in Kazan (Russia), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the President of Venezuela, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, and the Minister of Economy of Malaysia. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Partnership with Venezuela, and wishes to deepen economic, trade and investment relations for the benefit of the people of the two countries. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro congratulated and highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements over the past decade; expressed his desire to learn from Vietnam's development experience. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro agreed to soon hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. At the same time, effectively coordinate the implementation of signed commitments and cooperation agreements, especially in the fields of agriculture, oil and gas, telecommunications, as well as consider the possibility of expanding cooperation to new and potential fields. On this occasion, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro asked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to convey an invitation to President Luong Cuong and other senior Vietnamese leaders to visit Venezuela soon. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed President Luong Cuong's invitation to President Nicolas Maduro to visit Vietnam in the near future. Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of Malaysian Delegation, Malaysian Minister of Economy Rafizi   Ramli expressed his admiration for Vietnam's strong economic growth over the past 10 years. Based on the development achievements of both countries, he said that this is the right time for Malaysia and Vietnam to strengthen cooperation, especially in new areas such as energy transition; electronics manufacturing; participation in production and supply chains; expanding Malaysia's investment in high-tech sectors and high value-added industries. The Malaysian Minister also wishes to learn from Vietnam's experience in the creative industry. At the meeting, the Prime Minister asked the Malaysian Minister of Economic Affairs to convey his regards to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, recalling the agreements reached during the meeting between the two Prime Ministers during the recent 44-45 ASEAN Summit. The Prime Minister congratulated Malaysia on assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2025, affirming that Vietnam will actively contribute to ensuring the success of ASEAN Year 2025.

Receiving Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is very interested in following and sharing the difficulties and challenges that the Cuban Government and people are facing due to the widespread power outage caused by storms. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and people are ready to support and hope that Cuba will soon overcome the problem and stabilize the lives and livelihoods of the people. To continue strengthening the Vietnam-Cuba relationship, the Prime Minister said that the two sides need to continue to cooperate closely to enhance multifaceted cooperation, promptly concretizing the important results of the state visit to Cuba by General Secretary To Lam in September 2024. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla sincerely thanked the valuable support of the Vietnamese Government and people. He affirmed that he would direct the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and urge relevant Cuban agencies to coordinate more closely with Vietnam to promptly realize the results of the recent state visit to Cuba by General Secretary To Lam, especially promoting investment and trade cooperation between the two countries, especially agricultural cooperation, and ensuring food security.
