The visit emphasizes economic and technological cooperation, according to Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash.
Sheikh Mohamed's presence in Washington DC also marks the first visit by a sitting UAE President to the US.
The UAE leader is expected to meet his host counterpart Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for the White House.
The discussion will not ignore “what is happening in the Gaza Strip” and other regions, and will focus on strengthening economic and technological ties.
According to the presidential adviser, the relationship with the US is the UAE's “most important strategic relationship,” even though “sometimes people like to talk about some tensions” in the bilateral relationship.
The UAE, which is expected to be a major contributor to the post-conflict reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, also has close ties with Russia and has refused to condemn the military campaign in Ukraine since 2022.
President Sheikh Mohamed's visit to the US comes amid escalating fighting between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah group, raising concerns about the risk of wider conflict in the Middle East.
The UAE, one of the few Arab states to recognize Israel, is increasingly influential in the Middle East thanks to its oil wealth, business climate and political stability.
