Royal Thai Navy ship visits Vietnam

With the consent of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, from April 2-6, HTMS NARRESUAN (FFG-421) and the working delegation of Region 1, Royal Thai Navy led by Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont, Commander of Region 1, Royal Thai Navy, visited and paid a courtesy visit to the Command of Naval Region 5 (Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province). Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of Naval Region 5, chaired the reception.

At the reception, Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung expressed his joy at welcoming the Royal Thai Navy delegation to visit the Naval Region 5 Command and expressed his condolences for the damage and loss suffered by the Thai people in the earthquake that occurred on the afternoon of March 28.

Speaking with Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont, Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung emphasized: In recent times, Vietnam People's Navy Region 5 and Region 1, Royal Thai Navy have coordinated effectively to implement the Joint Patrol Regulations and maintain effective communication channels, especially the hotline. Thereby, they have promptly exchanged information and effectively resolved issues arising at sea.

The Commander of Naval Region 5 believes that on the basis of the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, extensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries, the visit of the working delegation of Naval Region 1, Royal Thai Navy this time will be a great success; contributing to realizing the commitment to "strengthen exchange and contact activities, build trust, promote friendly and effective cooperation between the two navies".

On behalf of the working delegation of Region 1, Royal Thai Navy, Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont thanked the Navy Region 5 Command for the warm welcome. He also expressed his hope that in the coming time, the navies of the two countries will have many exchange, cooperation and experience sharing activities; continue to coordinate effectively in implementing joint patrols combined with propaganda and mobilizing fishermen of the two countries to strictly comply with regulations when exploiting seafood at sea, contributing to maintaining security, order, peace and stability in the waters bordering Vietnam - Thailand.

During the visit, the delegation of Region 1, Royal Thai Navy paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Phu Quoc City People's Committee; visited scenic spots and historical sites in the locality.

On this occasion, officers and sailors of Ship FFG-421 participated in the young officers' seminar and some other exchange activities with officers and soldiers of Brigade 127, Brigade 175, Naval Region 5 Command. The activities took place in a joyful, exciting atmosphere, full of solidarity, leaving many good impressions and feelings for the navies of the two countries.
