Brazilian President successfully concludes State visit to Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of March 29, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva left Hanoi, successfully concluding his State visit to Vietnam from March 27-29, 2025, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

Seeing off the delegation at the airport were: Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van; Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan; Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi.

During his visit to Vietnam, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva laid a wreath and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; and laid flowers at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Ba Dinh, Hanoi).

President Luong Cuong hosted the official welcoming ceremony, held talks, and held a banquet, and met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the press, witnessing the handover of cooperation documents between the two countries. During the receptions, talks and meetings with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Vietnamese leaders welcomed President Lula da Silva to visit Vietnam again after 17 years; they were delighted that a long-time great friend of the “Vietnamese generation”, the generation of people who united and supported each other in the struggle for liberation, was visiting Vietnam right on the occasion of Vietnam preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 50th anniversary of national reunification. The Vietnamese leaders affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attach importance to Brazil, a leading partner in Vietnam’s overall foreign policy in the Latin American region, and wished to develop the newly established strategic partnership between the two countries in depth.

President Lula da Silva expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again and thanked the Vietnamese leaders for their time and warm and friendly reception for him and the high-ranking Brazilian State delegation; reviewed the activities during his participation in movements supporting the Vietnamese people in the past; recalled profound memories of his visit to Vietnam in 2008; expressed his impressions and congratulated the Communist Party, State and people of Vietnam on the country's strong development in recent times in all fields. The Brazilian President affirmed that Vietnam is a close friend and important partner of Brazil in the Asian region.

The leaders of the two countries agreed on important directions to strengthen the strategic partnership on bilateral and multilateral levels; emphasizing the effective implementation of signed cooperation documents in all channels, which is an important basis to promote the potential of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, meeting the expectations of both sides.

On this occasion, the two countries signed and exchanged bilateral cooperation documents, including: Action Plan to implement the Strategic Partnership; Agreement on paid employment for relatives of diplomatic staff; Government-level Agreement on the exchange and protection of confidential information; Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Working Group to promote trade and industrial cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Industrial Development, Trade and Services of Brazil; Memorandum of Understanding on football cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Brazilian Football Confederation.

During the visit, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the Vietnam - Brazil Business Forum and had a working lunch.

On the occasion of the State visit to Vietnam by President of the Federal Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the leaders of the two countries issued a Joint Statement.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited the Vietnam Military History Museum.

Before concluding his visit to Vietnam, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held a press conference, announcing the results of the visit and contents related to the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Brazil.
