Overview of BCG Energy's trillion-dollar energy projects

As a renewable energy enterprise in the top 3 in Vietnam, BCG Energy owns large-scale energy projects in many provinces and cities across the country.

BCG Energy Joint Stock Company, a member of Bamboo Capital Group (HoSE: BCG) will officially trade its shares on the UpCoM exchange on July 31. The stock code is BGE, the opening price is VND15,600/share.

Currently, BCG Energy has a charter capital of VND 7,300 billion, equity of nearly VND 10,000 billion and total assets of nearly VND 20,000 billion.

In the period of 2018-2020, BCG Energy rapidly deployed 4 large renewable energy projects: BCG Long An 1, BCG Long An 2, BCG Vinh Long and BCG Phu My. Along with rooftop solar power systems installed in export processing zones and industrial parks, BCG Energy's total power generation capacity reached about 600 MW. This is a solid foundation for the Company to establish its position on the renewable energy map of Vietnam.

BCG Energy's project implementation and operation capacity is highly appreciated by international partners. The company is continuously receiving investment cooperation from prestigious corporations such as Hanwha, SP Group, Sembcorp, SK Group...

BCG Long An 1 and BCG Long An 2

BCG Long An 1 is the first energy project built by BCG Energy, with a total investment of 1,088 billion VND, started in September 2018, completed in June 2019 and officially connected to the national grid. This is the first solar power plant in Long An province, built in Thanh An commune, Thanh Hoa district.

BCG Energy's BCG Long An 1 factory has a capacity of 40.6 MW, electricity output of 57 million kWh/year, equivalent to meeting the electricity consumption of 22,000 households, CO2   The plant helps reduce emissions by an estimated 16,000 tons/year. BCG Long An 1 enjoys a FIT price of 9.35 cents/KWh for 20 years.

After BCG Long An 1 came into operation, in 2019-2020, BCG Energy continued to deploy and put into operation the BCG Long An 2 Solar Power Plant. The plant has a capacity of 100.5 MW, a total investment of 96.1 million USD, built in Thanh Hoa district. The plant enjoys a FIT price of 7.09 cents/KWh for 20 years.

BCG Vinh Long Solar Power Plant

VNECO Vinh Long Solar Power Plant was started by BCG Energy on November 6, 2020. The project has a total capacity of 49.3 MW, is built on an area of ​​49.7 hectares and has a total investment of VND 1,156 billion.

BCG Vinh Long's annual electricity output reaches about 70 million kWh/year, equivalent to the amount of electricity used for 26,000 households and 19,000 tons of CO2.   emissions are reduced. Thanks to completion before December 31, 2020, BCG Vinh Long Plant also enjoys a FIT price of 7.09 cents/KWh for 20 years.

Phu My Solar Power Plant

Phu My Solar Power Plant was started by BCG Energy on May 29, 2020. This is BCG Energy's largest solar power plant with a capacity of 330 MW and is also the largest solar power plant in Binh Dinh province. The plant has a total investment of nearly 7,000 billion VND, built on an area of ​​323.5 hectares in two communes of My An and My Thang, Phu My district.

The plant's electricity output is about 520 million kWh/year, equivalent to the usage of 200,000 households, while helping to reduce emissions of about 146,000 tons of CO2 .

On December 31, 2020, phase 1 of Phu My Solar Power Plant was officially completed and connected to the national grid. The first 216 MW of phase 1 enjoyed a FIT price of 7.09 cents/kWh, the remaining 114 MW was one of the projects that applied the transitional electricity price.

In addition to the 4 solar power plants mentioned above that have come into operation, BCG Energy has completed phase 1 of the Krong Pa 2 Solar Power Plant (21MW) in Gia Lai and is in the process of negotiating transitional electricity prices.

Rooftop solar projects

In addition to solar energy fields, BCG Energy has deployed and put into commercial operation many rooftop solar power systems in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Lam Dong, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Nghe An, etc., with a total capacity of up to 74 MW.

Most of the rooftop solar power systems are installed by BCG Energy in export processing zones, industrial parks, and manufacturing factories. Some of the large enterprises using BCG Energy's rooftop solar power systems include Linh Trung Industrial Park, Vinamilk, Mobile World, etc.

BCG Energy's rooftop solar power segment still has a lot of potential and room for development because manufacturing enterprises need to use renewable energy to reduce production costs, "green" products, and increase competitiveness in the international market. BCG Energy aims to increase the total operating rooftop solar power capacity to 150 MW by the end of 2024. In the period of 2025-2028, BCG Energy's total rooftop solar power capacity is expected to reach 500 MW.

Large-scale wind power plant cluster in Ca Mau and Tra Vinh

According to the List of priority power source projects to be implemented by 2030, BCG Energy currently has a total of 8 onshore and nearshore wind power projects with a total capacity of up to 925 MW located in many localities across the country. Of which, the Khai Long 1 wind power plant projects (100 MW) in Ca Mau and Dong Thanh 1 (80 MW), Dong Thanh 2 (120 MW) in Tra Vinh province are being urgently implemented by BCG Energy.

The most prominent among the wind power plants that BCG Energy is developing is the Khai Long Wind Power Project with a capacity of 300 MW, with a total investment of about 18,000 billion VND. In phase 1, the Khai Long Wind Power Project will build 17 wind power towers, with a total capacity of 100 MW of wind power, with an estimated investment of more than 6,300 billion VND. In phases 2 and 3, Bamboo Capital will continue to invest an additional 11,700 billion VND for the remaining 200 MW. When the cluster of 3 plants is fully operational, it is estimated to reach an electricity output of about 760 million kWh/year, helping to reduce emissions into the environment by about 500,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Tam Sinh Nghia Waste to Energy Plant

On July 20, 2024, BCG Energy started construction of phase 1 of the Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Plant in Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City. BCG Energy achieved the goal of building the Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Plant into a symbolic project of Ho Chi Minh City, effectively supporting the city in solving the problem of waste treatment. At the same time, BCG Energy also hopes to develop the Plant into a center for training human resources and transferring technology on waste-to-energy incineration nationwide.

Phase 1 of the Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Plant will be implemented from 2024 to 2025, with a total investment of VND 6,400 billion, a capacity to burn 2,000-2,600 tons of waste/day, a power generation capacity of 60 MW, and an expected power output to the grid of up to 365 million kWh/year, meeting the electricity needs of about 100,000 households, while helping to reduce emissions of about 257,000 tons of CO2/year.

Phase 2 of the project will be implemented from 2026-2027, increasing the waste incineration capacity to 6,000 tons/day, generating power up to 130MW, becoming the world's largest waste-to-energy plant. Phase 3 of the plant is expected to be implemented from 2027 to 2029, with waste incineration capacity up to 8,600 tons/day, generating power up to 200MW.

BCG Energy’s waste-to-energy plant will help Ho Chi Minh City handle 20-25% of its daily household waste. The waste treatment rate will be increased to 60-80% when the plant completes phases 2 and 3, respectively.

According to the Power Plan 8 implementation plan, which was just issued in April 2024, BCG Energy has up to 8 onshore and nearshore wind power projects prioritized for implementation until 2030. The total capacity of these projects is up to nearly 1 GW. Of which, the Dong Thanh 1 (80 MW), Dong Thanh 2 (120 MW) wind power plant projects in Tra Vinh province; Khai Long 1 (100 MW) in Ca Mau are being urgently implemented by BCG Energy and are expected to come into operation next year. Thereby, helping BCG Energy increase its total power generation capacity by about 53%.

In parallel with the construction of the Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Plant in Ho Chi Minh City, BCG Energy will also research and deploy additional waste-to-energy plants in Long An, Kien Giang and other provinces and cities.

The recently issued Plan to Implement the Power Plan VIII and the Direct Power Trading Mechanism have removed many bottlenecks and bottlenecks in the implementation of renewable energy projects, opening up many opportunities for capable and experienced businesses. With a series of wind power and waste-to-energy projects that are being and will be implemented in the near future, BCG Energy will quickly accelerate on the race to become the leading renewable energy enterprise in Vietnam.
