Following the example of previous generations, joining the excitement of the youth of the whole country joining the army, the excellent children of Quang Ninh from districts, towns and cities are also marching. “The Fatherland calls, we are ready”… Wearing the green uniform, in the heart of each new soldier there is the same will and dream of training and dedicating youth to the Fatherland.
At the call of the heart
During the 2025 military recruitment season, Tran Anh Tuan (Ha Tu ward, Ha Long city) volunteered to join the army. At the age of 24, he has a master's degree in electrical engineering and a stable job with an income of more than 10 million VND/month at Cua Ong Coal Selection Company - TKV, but Mr. Tuan still decided to put everything aside to join the army, wearing the green shirt of Uncle Ho's soldier. For Tran Anh Tuan, the military environment will be a place to train him to become more mature.
Sharing about this decision, Mr. Tuan said: My grandfather and uncle used to work in the military environment. That is also the reason why I wanted to wear the green uniform. In previous recruitment seasons, I also had the desire to join the army, but because my studies were still unfinished, I put it aside. This year, I volunteered to join the army and was accepted. I believe that in the coming months, being trained in the military environment will help me become more and more brave, confident and steadfast.
Also carrying in his heart a desire to contribute to the cause of protecting the Fatherland, young man Dang Kieu Anh, Dai Yen ward (Ha Long city) volunteered to join the army this spring. Although he graduated from Ha Long University, Dang Kieu Anh decided to temporarily put aside his work to fulfill his military service. Ready to go, Dang Kieu Anh said: Even when I was in university, I had a dream of becoming a soldier of the Vietnam People's Army. Therefore, after finishing school, I volunteered to join the army to contribute to serving the Fatherland. Through the preliminary selection and medical examination steps, I met the requirements to join the army. When I received the call to join the army, I was very happy and determined to try my best to complete the assigned tasks well and if I had the opportunity, I really wanted to serve in the army for a long time.
In Hong Phong ward (Dong Trieu city), there are two twin brothers, Duong Viet Hoang and Duong Thanh Huy (born in 2006), who both volunteered to join the army during this year's recruitment season. With a childhood dream of growing up in a military environment, Hoang and Huy decided to volunteer to join the army after graduating from high school. Knowing that both brothers were selected, Duong Viet Hoang could not hide his joy and shared: My brother and I are looking forward to challenging ourselves by training in a military environment. During our time in the army, we will try to study and train well to make our relatives and family feel secure and proud. Grandparents and parents always spend time encouraging us to complete our tasks excellently during our military service.
Supporting his two sons' spirit of volunteering to join the army, Mr. Duong Van Lon said: When they were recruited, my family was very excited, hoping that they would practice, improve their bravery, become more mature, listen to their commanders, and fulfill their duties well.
In the 2025 military recruitment campaign, Dam Ha district had 48 cases of people volunteering to join the army. Among those 48 volunteer applications was Bui Xuan Truong (Dam Ha commune). Leaving behind the worries about his family situation, his grandparents being old, and his younger siblings not yet grown up, Bui Xuan Truong was one of the first young people in Dam Ha commune to volunteer to join the army. Bui Xuan Truong shared: I want to become more mature and stronger to take care of my family, so I volunteered to join the army. In the future, I will be recruited into Brigade 147, Naval Region 1. I know that training in the military environment is difficult, but I will be determined to strive to fulfill my duty as a citizen to the Fatherland; strictly abide by the law, discipline and regulations of the unit.
Performing military service is not only a noble duty and right, but above all, it is also a “command from the heart” of every Vietnamese citizen. Following the footsteps of previous generations and the tradition of the heroic mining homeland, thousands of outstanding young men from 13 districts, towns and cities in Quang Ninh are eagerly awaiting the day to join the army.
"The army is not missing a single man"
In 2025, Quang Ninh was assigned to select and call 2,194 citizens to join the army and hand over to military and police units. From the beginning, the Provincial Military Command - the Standing Office of the Provincial Military Service Council actively and proactively did a good job of advising the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Military Service Council in leading and directing the drastic and strict implementation of all stages and steps. The Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Department of Health and relevant agencies to well organize the preliminary selection, health examination, and health re-examination for citizens according to the Law on Military Service.
The entire political system of localities in the province joined in, promoting propaganda work on the Law on Military Service and related documents; educating about the historical traditions of the homeland; propagating the regime and policies for demobilized soldiers; the rights and obligations of citizens in performing military service so that young people can raise their awareness and responsibility to the Fatherland.
With the goal of improving the quality of citizens joining the army to meet the requirements of the task of building the army in the new situation, localities focus on selecting citizens who have graduated from universities and colleges, with professions suitable for the needs of arrangement and use in the army. Many young people have graduated from colleges and universities, ready to go to do military service.
To thoroughly prepare for the military draft day, localities have previously done a good job of registering for military service and managing citizens of military service age; improving the quality of voting and proposing male citizens of military service age to go for preliminary selection to ensure democracy, fairness and transparency.
In 2025, Uong Bi City was assigned the target of selecting and calling up 176 citizens for military service, including 150 citizens performing military service and 26 citizens performing public security service. Thanks to the attention to doing well the stages and steps in the military recruitment work, the city has selected 176 citizens who meet the requirements in terms of health and political background. Of which, 170/176 young people have written applications to volunteer for military service. Thereby, demonstrating a sense of responsibility, continuing the fine traditions of the homeland.
Identifying the selection and calling of citizens to join the army as one of the key political tasks of local military and defense work, right from the beginning of the year, the Mong Cai City Military Command has deployed the work of reviewing and grasping the source of young people of military service age. Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Duong, Deputy Commander of the Mong Cai City Military Command, said: The City Military Command has organized a meeting to review cases of temporary deferment and exemption from military service in accordance with the Law on Military Service. At the same time, it has done a good job of managing population, household registration, and classifying the political quality of citizens of military age to select citizens who meet the standards and put them on the list of medical examinations with the motto of recruiting people who are sure of their health.
To encourage and motivate citizens preparing to join the army, Mong Cai City also organized meetings and presented gifts to outstanding citizens who volunteered to join the army with the amount of 300,000 VND/citizen; gifts for citizens joining the army were 250,000 VND/citizen. Communes and wards also did a good job of visiting and presenting gifts to citizens joining the army with gifts worth 1.5-3 million VND/citizen.
At this point, localities are ready for the military handover ceremony taking place on February 13 with the motto "Not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing". The young men of the mining land are also ready to leave, carrying in their hearts a strong youthful energy, enthusiasm and a desire to contribute, following in the footsteps of previous generations to protect the Fatherland. The men leave, the rear confidently awaits a generation of young men who have been trained, "tested by fire" through hardships to return, confidently asserting themselves, promoting the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, continuing to join hands with the people to build the homeland of Quang Ninh increasingly strong, beautiful and rich.
