The story of Nguyen Duc and Duong Thi Kim Duyen's efforts to overcome poverty to study makes everyone admire them - Performed by: NHAT LINH - TRAN MAI - NHA CHAN - MAI HUYEN - TON VU
Many people cried when they heard the story of two new students, Nguyen Duc and Duong Thi Kim Duyen. Duc's parents divorced when he was 3 years old, luckily his aunt took care of him, but his aunt's family was so poor that when Duc was 6 years old, he was sent to a child protection center until he was 14 when his aunt picked him up.
Feeling sorry for his aunt's hard work, Duc only finished 10th grade and then quit to work as a waiter and construction worker. After four years of hard work, Duc saved money with the determination to return to school. And at the age of 22, he just became a new student majoring in fisheries management at the University of Agriculture and Forestry (Hue University). He still had to work part-time to continue studying.

Duong Thi Kim Duyen's mother is mentally ill and this girl was born after her mother was harmed. More tragically, Duyen's mother passed away when her daughter was only 8 months old. Duyen grew up in the arms of her grandmother, had to study and do all kinds of jobs to earn money to go to school and studied very well. Duyen passed the economics major at Quy Nhon University, relatives ran around everywhere to collect money to send their orphaned grandchild to school.
Duyen appeared at the scholarship ceremony with a haggard appearance. She said her biggest desire was to finish school soon to make up for her grandmother.
Nguyen Duc went to receive his scholarship with his favorite “Uncle Ho sandals” that he had worn for years from his part-time job to school. Two orphaned students were given laptops by the Vinacam Scholarship Fund (Vinacam Group Joint Stock Company) to help them study and shared the same wish to return to help other students in need like themselves in the future.

“There are poor and talented students who do not perform well, but there are also many students with very good spirits. Please cherish these hearts, take advantage of the opportunity to change your life, and later come back to help other students who are in difficult situations like you” – Dr. Tong advised.
