Continuing the glorious historical tradition of the two nations, together fostering the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos

On the afternoon of September 11, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith met with former volunteer soldiers, Vietnamese experts, Vietnamese students studying in Laos and young generations of Vietnam and Laos. General Secretary and President To Lam, senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and Laos; representatives of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts in Laos, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and young people of the two countries attended the meeting.

In a warm, friendly atmosphere of comradeship, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith reviewed the history of the special solidarity tradition between Laos and Vietnam, founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and beloved President Souphanouvong, and cultivated by generations of Party, State and people leaders of the two countries, tested through the fire of revolutionary struggle with sweat and blood. Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Vietnam-Laos relationship has become a "unique" symbol of international solidarity, a priceless common asset of the two peoples, summed up by the four words: "Comradeship, Solidarity, Brotherhood, Friendship".

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his pride and emotion for the enormous contributions and sacrifices of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos; affirmed that most battlefields in Laos bear the mark of Lao and Vietnamese soldiers; and remembered the impressive images in history of soldiers from the two countries fighting side by side, sharing the same trench, sharing joys and sorrows, supporting and helping each other, biting a grain of rice in half, breaking a vegetable in half, sacrificing for each other to bring independence and freedom to the nation and happiness and prosperity to the people of the two countries.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his delight and appreciation for the positive development of the Laos-Vietnam relationship in various fields in recent times; sincerely thanked Vietnam for its wholehearted support and assistance up to now and emphasized that the people of the two countries, especially the young generation who will hold the future of the country, need to be deeply aware of the importance of the relationship. The special Vietnam-Laos relationship is a priceless common asset of the two peoples to constantly consolidate and nurture the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two countries and peoples to increasingly develop and bear fruit.

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Huynh Dac Huong, representative of the Liaison Committee, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese military experts helping Laos, was moved to share about the days together with the Lao armed forces and people in the same trench, sharing each bowl of rice, each piece of vegetable, each grain of salt, each sip of water and even drops of blood to give each other strength, achieve many feats, and contribute to the glorious revolutionary cause of the two Parties and two States. Each victory of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers is a victory of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos, just as President Ho Chi Minh taught "helping friends is helping yourself", or as the praise that the Lao Party and People's leaders gave to the volunteer soldiers is that in Laos, there is no place without the footprints of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, there is no victory without the sacrifices and contributions of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers.

Comrade Huynh Dac Huong shared that the former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos are very excited and proud of the great achievements that the two Parties, two States and peoples have achieved in recent times; happy with the good development of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos in all fields and increasingly going into depth and substance.

He affirmed that he would always keep in mind the sharing of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith during the visit to Laos of the delegation of former volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts on November 7, 2022 about the four (4) words of love of the Laos-Vietnam relationship, which are: Comradeship with the same ideals; Brotherhood with the same origin as the Indochinese Communist Party; Friendship, being close, trusting people, sharing joys and sorrows with each other, sharing "a grain of salt bitten in half, a piece of vegetable broken in half"; Special solidarity and friendship, originating from the heart, close-knit, close-knit, pure, and steadfast.

Comrade Huynh Dac Huong expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the two Parties and two States, and the consensus of the people of the two countries, The Vietnam-Laos relationship will continue to develop and bear fruit. He affirmed that former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos will continue to be role models for the younger generation to follow and devote themselves to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of the two countries and continue to preserve and nurture the Vietnam-Laos relationship to be forever stronger than mountains and rivers.

Representing the Vietnam Association of Truong Son Ho Chi Minh Trail, Major General Hoang Kien reviewed the extremely difficult years in which Truong Son and Pathet Lao troops bravely and steadfastly defeated enemy plots to block Vietnam's air support route, creating a beautiful symbol of the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail, a living testament to the solidarity and fighting alliance between Vietnam and Laos.

Representing former Vietnamese students in Laos, comrade Nguyen Tien Ngoc expressed his emotion and pride in sharing about the unforgettable days of studying in Laos. Despite many difficulties, the Lao Party and State always give priority to material things and warm feelings like "children of the same family" to encourage Vietnamese students in Laos to have good conditions to study to serve the country and people of the two countries in the future.

Comrade Pham Van Luong, Deputy Head of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, Vietnam News Agency, affirmed that the years of living and working in the beautiful country of Laos, especially when the resistance war against the US for national salvation of the people of the two countries entered a very fierce stage, have trained him to mature and become more attached to Laos as his second homeland. The feelings of children and grandchildren, close friends and the devoted care and concern of the Lao people have demonstrated a unique and loyal relationship in the world that future generations need to constantly preserve, cultivate and develop for the benefit of the people of each country, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
