Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and leaders of ministries and branches participating in the working delegation.

Reporting to the Prime Minister and the delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam said that the Embassy has always been proactive and made efforts to contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries to become increasingly deeper, more substantive and effective in all fields, especially in implementing the agreements of the two countries' senior leaders.

Vietnam is currently among the top three countries investing in Laos with a total registered capital of over 5 billion USD. Bilateral trade turnover in the first months of 2024 exceeded 1 billion USD, aiming for over 2 billion USD per year.

There are currently about 100,000 Vietnamese expatriates living, working and studying in Laos. Over the past time, the Embassy has always paid attention to supporting the Vietnamese community, helping them feel secure in doing business and living, contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos and contributing to the homeland, the country, and the Vietnam - Laos relationship. In particular, the Embassy and the Vietnamese community have paid great attention to and organized many activities to honor and promote the preservation and learning of the Vietnamese language.

Ms. Kieu Thi Hong Phuc, Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, said that the northern region of Laos still has many difficulties, but the 8 provinces here have good relationships with 26 provinces, cities and 2 military regions of Vietnam.

Notably, in terms of economic diplomacy, the Consulate General and the two provinces of Dien Bien and Lai Chau are implementing a pilot cooperation project to plant 8 hectares of macadamia trees. If effective, it will be expanded. Ms. Kieu Thi Hong Phuc requested ministries and branches to pay attention to supporting and cooperating with Laos in this work and said that she will expand the cooperation to plant a number of trees suitable for Northern Laos such as Bat Do bamboo, cinnamon, etc.

Major General Dao Xuan Lan, Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos, reported on cooperation activities with Laos, especially cooperation in crime prevention; said that the Ministry of Public Security is currently implementing two projects to support Laos, including building a drug rehabilitation center and building a population data system and issuing citizen identification cards.

Vietnamese Defense Attaché in Laos, Colonel Vo Van Thong, affirmed that Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos are always united, united, and strive to carry out the tasks assigned by the Party and State with the spirit of protecting the country "from early on and from afar", "helping friends is also helping ourselves"; he requested that the Party and State continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation in socio-economic development in the border areas between the two countries, and cooperation in human resource training.

After listening to opinions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Vietnam - Laos relationship is very special, and Vietnamese representative agencies and officials must thoroughly understand the spirit of sincerity, trust and openness in this relationship.

In recent times, despite many complicated developments in the world and the region, the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos has continued to develop very well; cooperation in all fields has become increasingly deep, substantial and effective.

The Prime Minister commended the representative agencies in Laos for overcoming many difficulties and successfully fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Prime Minister stated that in the Vietnam-Laos relationship, political relations are the core, while at the same time, it is necessary to strongly promote economic cooperation, education cooperation, human resource training and other fields, contributing to consolidating and nurturing the Vietnam-Laos relationship to increasingly develop in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Further analyzing the key points that representative agencies need to focus on promoting bilateral economic cooperation, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to strengthen business connections, support the development of businesses and entrepreneurs, call for and create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to cooperate and invest; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to live, study and work in Laos; promote the good implementation of existing projects, and complete ongoing projects, with upcoming projects having to be focused and key, not spread out.

The Prime Minister also stated that "educational and training cooperation with Laos is a strategic, long-term issue."

Along with that, the Prime Minister requested that agencies continue to do a good job in protecting citizens and building the community; maintain and promote solidarity and unity; proactively and actively cooperate and exchange with representative agencies of ASEAN countries in Laos to contribute to promoting and strengthening solidarity and unity in ASEAN.

Basically agreeing with the proposals of the delegates, the Prime Minister assigned the agencies to coordinate in developing specific plans and projects to report to competent authorities for consideration and decision. The Prime Minister emphasized the viewpoint of "what is said must be done, what is committed must be done", what is done must be done effectively in implementing cooperation projects with Laos.
