Receiving relics of King Ham Nghi from France

VHO - On October 25, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the People's Committee of Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province) received relics of King Ham Nghi donated by the king's descendants in France.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, presented the mother-of-pearl inlaid wooden tray of King Ham Nghi to the Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

The relics donated this time to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center include: a wooden tray inlaid with mother-of-pearl, measuring 31.4cm long, 18.4cm wide, and 10cm high; a set of books in Chinese characters including the books Ngu che canh chuc do (2 chapters), Dan do huyen chi (25 chapters), Tang dinh thi kinh the chu dien nghia (5 chapters)...

Along with that, the artifact, King Ham Nghi's pipe, was also given by his descendants in France to Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province - the place where King Ham Nghi chose as the "resistance capital" and issued the Can Vuong edict.

The above artifacts were donated by Dr. Amandine Dabat - a 5th generation descendant of King Ham Nghi in France, representing the family and directly delivered to the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum during a working trip at the end of September.

At the working session on October 25 in Hanoi, Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh - Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum handed over the donated relics in their original packaging to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung - Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bac - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province).

The donation of King Ham Nghi’s relics is of great significance to the work of preserving heritage and honoring the historical values ​​of the nation. The relics are repatriated, opening up more opportunities for the people of the country, especially the younger generation, to admire and learn about the patriotic king.

Previously, in 2023, Ms. Amandine Dabat also donated to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center the artifact of King Ham Nghi's pipe. This is an artifact that King Ham Nghi brought with him and used during his exile in Algeria.

The activities of donating artifacts of King Ham Nghi back to his homeland show the gratitude of Dr. Amandine Dabat, a descendant of King Ham Nghi, to his roots, and at the same time contribute to deepening the cultural cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the world.
