According to My Thuan Project Management Board (investor of Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project), as of December 31, 2024, the progress of the entire project reached 56%, of which the Can Tho - Hau Giang section reached 62%, the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section reached 53%. In particular, in the last days of 2024, the first meters of asphalt concrete were laid on the Can Tho - Hau Giang section. The contractor representative said that after the quality test results of the first 250m, the entire main route and bridges will be paved with asphalt concrete. In addition, the contractor has also constructed 130m of asphalt for the connecting route of the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section. |

The construction site commander of the Can Tho - Hau Giang section, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Hong Quan - Deputy Director of the Truong Son Nam Management Board, Truong Son Construction Corporation said that in order to speed up the progress and complete it by the end of 2025, the unit is focusing on human and material resources to ensure the progress and quality requirements of the project. With hundreds of engineers and workers on site, it is possible to synchronously deploy items, 3 shifts, 4 teams working continuously, including holidays and New Year's Day 2025, the construction site is still operating normally. |

The Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway Project (part of the North – South Eastern Expressway Project, phase 2021 – 2025) started construction in January 2023. The entire route is 110km long, passing through 5 provinces/cities (Can Tho, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, Ca Mau), with a total investment of more than 27,500 billion VND.
During the project site inspection in December 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested all levels, sectors and localities to focus on synchronously, drastically and effectively implementing tasks and solutions to achieve the goal of completing 600km of expressway in the Mekong Delta by 2025 and 2026. Of which, the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway must be completed before December 31, 2025 to seamlessly connect the entire North - South expressway in the East from Lang Son to Ca Mau, and proceed to invest in the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway section.
