Mr. Ngo Xuan The - Deputy General Director of AVC said that in order to carry out the dual task of ensuring downstream water supply and safe electricity production and supply, from the beginning of 2024, under the direction of EVN, Power Generation Corporation 2, AVC has stored water in the reservoir to reach the normal water level. The company also proactively worked with the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province on the water source situation and operational requirements of the power system.

At the same time, coordinate with hydropower reservoir owners in the same basin to unify the operation of upstream hydropower plants, propose a coordination plan to exploit and save water resources, ensure harmony between regulating water levels according to the chart, meeting the tasks and requirements of supplying water to downstream areas and producing electricity according to actual needs. Especially during the peak of the dry season from May to July 2024, try to keep the water levels of the reservoirs at the highest possible level until April 30.
As of April 9, the water level of A Vuong hydropower reservoir reached 375.16m, 4.84m below the normal water level (normal water level 380m) and 35.16m higher than the dead water level (dead water level 340m).
From this water level, AVC will operate the plant, regulate the reservoir to ensure the task of supplying electricity to the national power system and supplying water downstream to fight drought and push back salinity, especially during the peak dry season in 2024 and the holidays of April 30 and May 1.

Regarding the maintenance and repair of the plant, A Vuong Hydropower Plant has implemented and replaced the shared DCS system and Unit 01 has been completed. It is expected to complete the replacement of the DCS system of Unit 02 and the maintenance and repair of the 2 units before April 24, 2024. The units are always ready to meet the mobilization of the national power system to serve the electricity supply in the coming time.

Mr. Ngo Xuan The - Deputy General Director of AVC said that ensuring downstream water demand has always been a top priority for A Vuong Hydropower Plant in the plant's operational requirements over the years. In 2024, with the proactive implementation of the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity Group, EVNGENCO2, AVC has planned to repair generators and replace the DSC system very early, in order to put generators into safe and reliable operation after repair before the hot weather increases, the demand for electricity and water both increase, contributing to ensuring safe power supply for the national power system.
"AVC has proactively worked with hydropower plants in the same basin to coordinate in operating power generation and water supply downstream with plans to ensure safety for downstream water supply in any situation, as well as coordinate with localities to better implement electricity and water saving, effectively use water resources in hydropower reservoirs until the end of the dry season, taking into account contingencies in case the rainy season comes late" - Mr. The said.
It is known that, up to this point, the total electricity output of EVNGENCO2 reached 4,259 billion kWh, an increase of 20% over the same period in 2023. Of which, AVC produced more than 155 million kWh of electricity and supplied more than 213 million cubic meters of water to downstream.
