Before the souls of our ancestors, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his respect and gratitude for the great contributions of comrades to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and our Army. On the same afternoon, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong visited and presented gifts to former Politburo members and former Ministers of National Defense: General Pham Van Tra and General Ngo Xuan Lich. Former Party Central Committee members: General Do Ba Ty, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, former Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, former Deputy Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the former leaders; wished them good health; and with their extensive experience, they will continue to contribute to the Party's revolutionary cause, the cause of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern army.

Informing the former leaders about the situation and some results of the Army's mission implementation, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that in the past time, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army has directed the entire army to strive to successfully complete regular and unexpected military and defense tasks, some tasks have been completed excellently, creating strong changes in all aspects of work. Timely advising and proposing to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to report and advise the Party and State on appropriate policies and measures, effectively handling situations, avoiding being passive and surprised.

The former leaders expressed their confidence in the current team of leaders and commanders in the Army; at the same time, they hoped that the entire army would continue to maintain solidarity and unity in will and action, build a clean and strong Army Party organization, and excellently complete assigned tasks.
