Encouraging Hiroshima Prefecture businesses to invest in Vietnam

At the reception for Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Yuzaki Hidehiko on the morning of May 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the host city of the expanded G7 Summit for its thoughtful, hospitable and professional reception; expressed his admiration for the efforts and aspirations for peace of generations of leaders and people of Hiroshima Prefecture, which have turned Hiroshima from a place that suffered heavy consequences of World War II into a locality with strong and comprehensive development, among the top 10 most developed localities in Japan.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the strong development of Vietnam-Japan relations, the rapid and substantial development of the cooperative and friendly relationship between Hiroshima and Vietnam; and asked the Governor of Hiroshima to further promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities in the fields of investment, human resource development cooperation, people-to-people exchange, etc. in the context that the two sides have just announced a direct flight between Hanoi and Hiroshima.

The Prime Minister also encouraged provincial enterprises to invest in Vietnam in the province's strengths, in line with Vietnam's needs such as digital transformation, green transformation, climate change response, processing, manufacturing, smart agriculture applications, wastewater treatment, electronic component production, etc.

Governor Yuzaki Hidehiko expressed his honor and gratitude to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation for attending the expanded G7 Summit in Hiroshima. He also emphasized that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation's visit to Hiroshima and laying wreaths at the Peace Memorial is an affirmation of support for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.

Governor Yuzaki Hidehiko reported to the Prime Minister on the cooperation situation between Hiroshima prefecture and Vietnam in recent times; said that the prefecture has cooperated with Vietnam very early; affirmed the desire to strengthen cooperation, investment and trade with Vietnamese localities, and to welcome more Vietnamese people to study and work in the prefecture.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has invited the Governor of Hiroshima and leaders of Hiroshima prefecture to visit Vietnam this year, the year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Previously, on the afternoon of May 20, within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with US President Joe Biden.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level. The Prime Minister said that the relationship between the two countries has developed positively in recent times, with a focus on economic and trade cooperation.

President Joe Biden highly appreciated the results of his phone call with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Joe Biden discussed a number of measures to promote bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern.

President of the European Council appreciates Vietnam's efforts in preventing corruption

Also on the afternoon of May 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the European Council Charles Michel. Affirming that the EU is a leading important partner in Vietnam's foreign policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level ones; maintain and promote the effectiveness of cooperation and dialogue mechanisms within the framework of the Vietnam - EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Framework Agreement.

The Prime Minister asked the President of the European Council to urge the Parliaments of the member countries to soon ratify the Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), creating a breakthrough in investment cooperation between the two sides; asked the European Council to have a voice so that the EC can soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports and continue to support Vietnam in transforming into a modern and sustainable fisheries development model.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the EU and its member countries will continue to support Vietnam in attracting resources to implement the Declaration on the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), with priority given to finance, technology, capacity building in the green transition process, renewable energy development and supporting industries.

Sharing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed his delight at the strong and extensive developments in Vietnam - EU relations in many areas, especially high-level exchanges and contacts, economic - trade and investment cooperation.

The President of the European Council highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in fighting corruption. Regarding the "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood, the President of the European Council acknowledged the progress that both sides have made in dealing with this issue.
