According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on October 30, within the framework of his visit, working session and attendance at the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference in Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitations of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the leaders and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to visit Vietnam soon.

Appreciating the role and position of the South Asian country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation with Pakistan, wishing to deepen the relationship between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade, tourism, people-to-people exchange, etc.

The Prime Minister sincerely shared his concerns about the fact that economic and trade cooperation is still relatively limited and not commensurate with the good political relations between the two peoples. He said that with a total population and market of 300 million people, there is still a lot of room for trade cooperation between the two sides.

The Prime Minister stressed that the two countries need to further open their markets to each other, and be determined and make efforts to elevate the relationship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister suggested that both sides increase the organization of business, investment, and tourism forums to enhance understanding and gain more information about each other, creating a foundation for deepening and substantive relations.

For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences over the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Prime Minister Sharif expressed his admiration, saying that Vietnam is a shining example of the national liberation movement in the past as well as the country's construction and development at present.

Fully agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's viewpoint on the need to respect and make the most of time, respect intelligence, promote new thinking and vision of the leaders of both sides, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed that the two sides should set an ambitious goal of bringing Vietnam - Pakistan trade turnover to the 10 billion USD mark in the coming time, expressing his wish to soon welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnamese leaders to visit Pakistan.

Sharing the vision and determination to bring the bilateral relationship to a new height, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister of Pakistan agreed to further promote delegation exchanges, especially high-level delegations and delegations of the two Foreign Ministers and Ministers in charge of specific fields such as information and communications, science and technology, agriculture, etc. to promote cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy in the coming time.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers also shared views and discussed measures to further enhance cooperation between Vietnam and Pakistan at international and multilateral forums to practically serve the interests of the people of the two countries as well as actively contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
