- On the afternoon of April 3, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee worked with the Regional Customs Branch VI. Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation chaired the meeting.
Attending the meeting were comrades: Doan Thi Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Canh Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; and comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.
At the conference, leaders of the Regional Customs Branch VI reported on the implementation of tasks according to the new organizational model; results of implementing a number of key tasks; customs modernization reform, implementation of digital border gates and smart border gates.
Accordingly, regarding the implementation of tasks according to the new organizational model, from March 15, 2025, the Customs Branch of Region VI officially came into operation on the basis of merging the Cao Bang Provincial Customs Department and the Lang Son Provincial Customs Department, including 17 affiliated units. Since its establishment, the organization of the branch has been arranged stably, put into operation immediately, without interruption of work, without leaving any vacant areas or fields.
From the beginning of 2025 to present, the Customs Branch of Region VI has received and resolved over 166,000 cases. declarations, with the total import-export turnover of all types of goods through the two provinces (Lang Son, Cao Bang) reaching nearly 18.1 billion USD; state budget collection reaching nearly 2,600 billion VND (an increase of 52% over the same period in 2024, reaching 27% of the target set for 2025); detecting and handling 504 violations.
Regarding customs modernization reform, the branch has deployed the Digital Border Gate Platform to facilitate the activities of people and businesses. The Department has also proactively reviewed to advise and propose contents related to specialized equipment serving the inspection and supervision of import and export goods through smart border gates; directed affiliated units to implement decisions, plans, and documents of superiors on the implementation of the Pilot Project on building smart border gates...
At the meeting, delegates discussed difficulties and obstacles and proposed solutions related to facilities and infrastructure at border gates; implementation of regulations and deployment of the Digital Border Gate Platform; coordination in performing tasks at border gates and border areas, etc.
Speaking at the working session, the Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the initiative and efforts of the Regional Customs Branch VI in performing its tasks.
Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, the Provincial Party Secretary requested: Customs Branch VI to focus on strictly implementing regulations on corruption and negativity prevention and control; focus on directing and drastically implementing the central and provincial directions on tasks and goals of socio-economic development and synchronously and effectively implementing solutions to collect taxes from import and export activities; continue to promote administrative procedure reform, enhance the application of information technology and perform assigned tasks under the Pilot Project on building smart border gates, the digital border gate platform of Lang Son province to facilitate customs clearance of goods.
The Regional Customs Branch VI continues to promote coordination with other functional forces to effectively carry out the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; pay attention to training and fostering to improve the professional qualifications and skills of the staff and civil servants; strengthen and improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs activities, especially with the Chinese customs agency to proactively and promptly exchange and remove difficulties and obstacles in import and export activities.
The Provincial Party Secretary requested the Provincial People's Committee to continue to pay attention to investing in and improving infrastructure and transportation, especially workplaces and equipment serving the inspection and control work of forces working at the border gate area; Discuss with the authorities of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to agree on plans for customs clearance of goods, and soon reopen trade activities through the currently closed secondary border gates; Continue to direct the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, relevant departments, branches, and functional forces to closely coordinate with the Customs Branch of Region VI to promptly adjust and supplement the coordination regulations; direct relevant professional agencies to consider recommendations and proposals of the Customs Branch of Region VI for timely resolution.
