Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks at the United Nations General Assembly on September 27.
AFP news agency on September 27 quoted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as declaring that the country's army will continue to attack Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, erasing hopes of a 21-day ceasefire proposed by the US and France.
Some delegates walked out as Mr Netanyahu took the podium to address the UN General Assembly, including representatives of Iran, Lebanon and Palestine, while others applauded him.
"As long as Hezbollah chooses the path of war, Israel has no other choice. Israel has every right to eliminate this threat and return our citizens safely to their homes. We will continue to weaken Hezbollah until we achieve all of our goals," he said.

Israel has been "enduring this unbearable situation" for nearly a year, he said, referring to Hezbollah's increased attacks in support of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
"I come here today to say enough is enough," he said, referring to the escalating violence between Hezbollah and Israel.
Earlier, the US and France said they had proposed a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel. The White House said the proposal was coordinated with Israel, but Netanyahu's office later said he had not responded to the proposal.
In his speech, Mr Netanyahu also sent a message to Iran: "If you attack us, we will attack you." "There is no place in Iran that the long arm of Israel cannot reach, and that is true for the entire Middle East," he said.
Violence escalates
Also on September 27, the Israeli military issued a statement saying it was conducting a new raid against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon, just minutes after Mr. Netanyahu's speech.
The Israeli military "is currently striking targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in southern Lebanon," the statement said.
In another development, the Houthi forces in Yemen said on September 27 that they had used missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon, as well as three US destroyers in the Red Sea, in support of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The Israeli military said it intercepted a missile from Yemen and issued an air strike alert in central Israel.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group attacked Tel Aviv with ballistic missiles and attacked Ashkelon with drones, and said the attacks would continue until Israel stopped attacking Gaza and Lebanon.
According to Mr. Sarea, Houthi simultaneously targeted three US destroyers with 23 missiles and a UAV while the ships were on their way to support Israel.
A US official said that US warships passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait intercepted multiple Houthi missiles and UAVs, adding that no ships were damaged.
