The fruit of consensus
To specify the directive documents of the Central and the province on mass mobilization work, the Dien Ban Town Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee advised the Town Party Committee's Standing Committee to issue directive documents on implementing mass mobilization work and the emulation movement "Skillful Mass Mobilization".
Accordingly, the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee has stepped up propaganda and mobilization work, raising awareness among cadres, party members and people about the meaning and importance of mass mobilization work and the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization" in all fields, especially in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
In Dien Quang commune, rearranging the communal cemeteries and mobilizing people to change their burial practices is very difficult. Dien Quang commune authorities predict that with the spontaneous burials, in the future there will be no more land to bury local people.
Through propaganda and mobilization work, people agreed with the government to re-establish burials in order from far to near, with graves of the same style.
Changing people's burial practices has created favorable conditions for the commune in planning land for people's cemeteries to ensure environmental sanitation, create green, clean and beautiful landscapes, contributing to building civilized villages.
Mr. Luong Van Minh - Secretary of Bao An village Party cell, Dien Quang commune said that to gain the consensus of the people like today, besides the correct policies of the Party and State, the leadership and direction of the Party committee and the government, the role of the Mass Mobilization Bloc and the grassroots Front is very important. Especially in propagating and mobilizing so that the people are truly the subject of the process of building a model new countryside.
In 2014, Dien Quang reached the new rural area goal one year earlier than the set target. In 2022, Dien Quang achieved the advanced new rural commune standard, and in August 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province recognized Dien Quang as meeting the model new rural standards. This is a vivid proof that Dien Ban's mass mobilization work is on the right track.
For the people's benefit
In 2021, facing the deterioration, causing flooding in the rainy season, affecting people's lives, Vinh Dien Ward People's Committee reported to the town, proposing an investment policy for the project to upgrade and expand Tran Cao Van Street (from Me Thu Street to Cao Thang Street). The project is 270m long, with an implementation cost of 7.2 billion VND, invested by Vinh Dien Ward People's Committee.
Mr. Ngo Thanh Hai - Chairman of Vinh Dien Ward People's Committee said that through the project implementation campaign, all households on the road unanimously responded and agreed to donate land to open the road with a total area of 915m2 , the locality supported the cost of rebuilding the fence and gate.
According to the initial schedule, the project was to be completed and put into use in 2023. However, the contractor only completed 38% of the contract volume and no longer had the capacity to carry out the construction, causing the project to be prolonged, affecting the lives of the people.
“The winning contractor has requested the locality to terminate the contract. The ward People's Committee has submitted a document to the Dien Ban Town People's Committee for approval so that the locality can select another contractor to continue the construction. The Dien Ban Town People's Committee has agreed to allow an extension of the implementation period within 90 days (from the date of selecting a new construction contractor),” said Mr. Ngo Thanh Hai.
After selecting a new contractor, the Vinh Dien ward authorities closely monitored the construction of the remaining items, determined not to let the people suffer from the "dusty sun, muddy rain" as in the past. Up to now, the road has been paved with asphalt, the sidewalk has been paved, the lighting system has been relocated; the contractor is planting trees, marking the road and installing traffic signs.
Living on this road, Mr. Than Vinh Kim (Block 5) said that previously the section in front of his house was under construction, with many potholes, affecting the lives of his family as well as the surrounding households. During the rainy season, the road is flooded, making travel very difficult, causing loss of urban beauty.
“When hearing the news that a new contractor was continuing the construction, the local people were very happy and very supportive, creating favorable conditions to speed up the progress of the project. Up to now, the road has been paved with asphalt and sidewalks, everyone is excited because the road is almost completed before this year's rainy season,” said Mr. Kim.
Sharing the same feelings with Mr. Kim, Ms. Dao Thi Ha (block 5, Vinh Dien ward) shared that recently, her family's restaurant business has encountered many difficulties due to the long and dusty construction route.
“The road is now paved, the front of the house is brighter, I hope business will be more favorable after the road is completed,” Ms. Ha shared.
Mr. Ngo Thanh Hai said that after this route, the locality will continue to implement phase 2 (from Cao Thang Street to Phan Thanh Tai Street) and Nguyen Van Troi Street. Learning from the previous project, the ward's viewpoint is to carefully consider to choose a qualified contractor, absolutely not to let the project be suspended halfway, affecting people's lives.
Difficult things are better when they can be moved.
Over the past 15 years, the construction and replication of typical models in the emulation movement "Skilled Mass Mobilization" has been directed and implemented by Party committees and authorities from the town to communes and wards in Dien Ban town.
At the end of the year, the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee issued a plan to survey the quality and effectiveness of the models; summarize, evaluate and advise the City Party Committee's Standing Committee to reward and encourage the movement.
Up to now, typical models have been replicated and maintained effectively not only in the town but also spread to neighboring localities. Typical models: "New rural nursery", "Rich households helping poor households", "Sharing love breakfast", "Security cameras", "Flower route", "Donating land to open roads", "1,000 ao dai for disadvantaged women" ...
Up to now, agencies, units, communes and wards in Dien Ban have registered to implement 658 "Skilled Mass Mobilization" models in various fields. Of which, 62 collective models and 8 individual models have been rewarded in the fields of economy, culture - society, national defense - security, and building the political system.
Mr. Tran Hai Van - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Town Party Committee affirmed: "The mass mobilization work and the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization" in the town have been promoting positive results. Notably, the difficult work that people can skillfully carry out has made an important contribution to the construction and development of the town".
