Historical milestones

95 years ago, on April 5, 1930, in Bat Nhi village, Nhi Dinh 2 hamlet, Dien Phuoc commune, Bat Nhi Party Cell - the first Party cell in Dien Ban district was established, consisting of 3 comrades with comrade Nguyen Thanh as Secretary. Immediately after its establishment, the Party Cell focused on consolidating and developing the organization, developing party members, developing good masses, and organizing many struggle activities throughout the villages and communes in the district.

Through the revolutionary stages, under the direct leadership of the Party Committee, the army and people of Dien Ban fought steadfastly, going from one victory to another.

The people's war strength of the army and people of Dien Ban was highly promoted in the general offensive and uprising of Tet Mau Than 1968 and the peak was the general offensive and uprising to completely liberate Dien Ban district on March 29, 1975.

Mr. Dao Duy Pho - Deputy Commander of Dien Ban District Military Command from 1971 to 1976 recalled: "The period when the US army attacked the Quang Nam battlefield most fiercely, including Dien Ban, was from 1971 to early 1975. However, the local people still stayed, kept the village, and protected the soldiers until the day the homeland was liberated."

Nine years of resistance against the French, 21 years of resistance against the Americans, to save the country, under the leadership of the Party, the army and people of Dien Ban have achieved many brilliant feats, continuing to glorify the patriotic tradition of our ancestors.

With many glorious achievements, on October 20, 1976, Dien Ban was honored by the Party and State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

The locality has 21 collectives and 82 individuals honored as Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; there are 3,140 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

After two long wars of resistance for the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland, Dien Ban has 18,920 martyrs, along with thousands of wounded soldiers and thousands of families with revolutionary contributions.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sy - former Secretary of Dien Ban district, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Nam province, shared: "After the end of the war, despite great efforts, after 10 years of persistent construction, the total social production value of Dien Ban only increased by 2 times compared to 1975, the locality still had more than 50% poor households, the average income per capita only reached 1.45 million VND/year.

After the 6th National Party Congress proposed the renovation policy, Dien Ban Party Committee applied and focused on shifting the economic structure and labor structure, from a purely agricultural locality to developing industry, trade and services; focusing on building rural roads, building irrigation systems to turn fertile land into fertile land, and stratifying schools, gradually bringing the cause of building the homeland to progress quickly, strongly and firmly.

Strong transformation

After 50 years of construction and development, Dien Ban has achieved great achievements. In the field of rural agriculture, specialized fields have been formed, economic growth has created conditions for implementing rural transportation programs, school stratification, and taking care of social security issues...

With achievements in the renovation cause, in 2005, Dien Ban cadres and people were honored to be awarded the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period by the President.

In particular, in 2015, Dien Ban became a town, was awarded the Second Class Independence Medal by the President and completed the task of building new rural areas in 2016.

And in early 2023, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a Resolution to establish 5 communes along National Highway 1 to become wards, and to date Dien Ban has 12 inner-city wards and 8 advanced new rural communes and model new rural communes.

Regarding investment attraction, in addition to Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park with an area of ​​390 hectares, Dien Ban has planned and built 9 industrial clusters and craft village clusters, attracting nearly 100 businesses inside and outside the town to do business.

In particular, over the past 10 years, the coastal area of ​​Dien Ngoc - Dien Duong from a difficult land has really changed strongly when the town promoted the work of calling for, promoting investment attraction, development and the appearance of many international tourism projects such as: The Nam Hai, Label Ha My...

In the agricultural sector, many production and livestock models have been introduced that bring high economic efficiency. The total production value reached more than 1,752 billion VND.

Dien Ban Town Party Secretary - Mr. Phan Minh Dung said: After 50 years since the day the homeland was liberated and 10 years since becoming a town, with the focus, determination, and responsibility of the entire political system, along with the joint efforts and contributions of the people and the business community, Dien Ban town has truly transformed and grown strongly.

From a land of "bombs and bullets", it has now become a young, dynamic urban area in the northern region of Quang Nam province. Urban and rural infrastructure has been invested in; the appearance of the urban and rural areas of the town has improved a lot, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved.

To date, the average income per capita has reached over 71 million VND/year. The town has no more poor households, except for poor households receiving social assistance and unable to escape poverty.

From an agricultural district that often lacked food in the first years after liberation, by the end of 2024, the total production value of the entire economy of Dien Ban reached more than 27,000 billion VND.

The economic structure and labor structure have shifted strongly towards industry and services; the economic structure continues to shift in the right direction. Specifically: industry - construction accounts for 67%, services account for 25%, agriculture - forestry - fishery accounts for 7.8%; the proportion of non-agricultural labor accounts for 87.5%.
