More universities support students with loans at preferential interest rates

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology: 0% interest loan

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology announces a loan guarantee and interest support program for students paying tuition fees for the 2023 school year. This 0% preferential interest loan program is implemented by the Phu Tho-Bach Khoa Alumni Community Representative Board (BKA) through Vietcombank.

Students in the school's standard program can borrow for up to 2 years, reviewed once per semester based on academic performance. Specifically, students in years 1, 2, and 3 have a loan term of 2 years from the date of disbursement. Students from year 4 onwards have a loan term of 1 year from the date of disbursement. Students are obliged to repay the loan within 30 days if the school decides to drop out or graduate before the deadline.

The loan amount is equal to the school's tuition fee and is disbursed each semester.

Conditions for loan guarantee for new students include: admission confirmation, priority given to students with difficult circumstances. Students in the remaining years need to have a cumulative average score of 5.0/10 and a training score of 80/100 or higher.

In particular, students with academic results from 8.0/10 and training from 90/100 during the loan guarantee period will be considered for a scholarship of 50% or 100% of the loan depending on the student's circumstances, efforts and program budget.

Students must pay 6-8% interest per year to the bank, all interest will be supported by BKA to students immediately after students complete interest payment to the bank. Students must register by October 8.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics: 2 forms of study credit

In 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) has developed and implemented a learning credit program for new students of the 49th regular university course.

The program is implemented with banks in 2 forms: Tuition loan for a maximum period of 3 months, the school supports interest rates for 130 loans at the lowest interest rate applied at participating banks to support students.

The form of paying tuition in installments via bank credit cards with 0% interest is implemented through the credit card issuance level. The school will also support the installment conversion fee for 130 students according to the lowest installment conversion fee between banks.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City National University Development Fund implemented a preferential study loan program with a 0% interest rate applicable to full-time students of the university's first degree program. Accordingly, students can borrow a maximum amount equal to the tuition fee for the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year, but not exceeding VND 20 million/semester. The loan period is calculated from the date the student receives the first loan amount until the date of full repayment of the principal and interest, if any. Students must repay the principal for the first time immediately after having a job and income, but no later than 12 months from the end of the course (including cases where they do not have a stable job).

In addition to universities, students in difficult circumstances are eligible to borrow up to VND 4 million/month (equivalent to VND 40 million/10-month school year) according to regulations of the Prime Minister. Students from poor or near-poor households according to the law and households with an average living standard according to the law can participate in this program. From the date of completion of the 12-month course according to regulations, students who receive loans must repay the principal and interest of the loan for the first time.
