On the morning of February 12, at the workshop "Admission methods and capacity assessment exams at Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025", Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, shared information about the school's 5 expected admission methods in 2025.

Method 1 is direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (1-5% of total enrollment target).

Method 2 is direct admission according to the admission regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU) (10-15% of total enrollment target).

This method is applied to excellent and talented candidates of high schools (1 student in the group of 5 students with the highest average score of 3 years of high school recommended by the high school principal).

In addition, this method also considers candidates from the list of 149 high schools that prioritize admission to Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Method 3 is to consider candidates with international admission certificates or foreign candidates (1-5% of total enrollment quota).

Method 4 is admission based on high school results combined with interviews for candidates planning to study abroad (1-5% of total quota).

Method 5 is a comprehensive admission method including criteria on academic ability (results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, results of the high school graduation exam, results of the high school learning process); other abilities; social activities (75-90% of total quota).

How is the comprehensive admission method implemented?

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang also shared the expected implementation method of the comprehensive admission method in 2025 of this school.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology plans to use 3 main components with fixed weights including: capacity assessment test scores accounting for 70%; high school graduation exam scores accounting for 20%; high school academic performance scores accounting for 10%.

The above component scores are converted to a 90-point scale. In addition, bonus points (maximum 10 points) include: other learning abilities (5 points); social activities, literature, sports and arts (5 points).

Providing more information about the school's general orientation with this method, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang said that the school will keep the weights of the components unchanged and continue to convert scores for candidates who do not take the capacity assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University. At the same time, it will continue to consider converting scores from capacity and thinking assessment exams of other educational institutions.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang said that implementing the combined method will fully assess the candidates' abilities, create fairness for all candidates participating in the selection process, diversify the recruitment sources, and motivate candidates with academic and other personal abilities to participate in the selection process.
