A university in Ho Chi Minh City uses a rapid bus service with stops directly connected to metro line 1, helping faculty and students effectively use the public transport network.
Routes and stops of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics BRT service
The university has its own bus service connecting to metro line 1.
From January 2, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will put into use the express bus service (UEH Shuttle bus) with 5 routes serving lecturers and students in the school. Notably, the new route of the express bus service has a stop directly connected to metro line 1, supporting the school's employees and students to effectively use the public transport network.
Detailed itinerary is as follows:
Route 1 : Depart from Eastern Bus Station area → Station 291A Dinh Bo Linh → Station 85 Dinh Bo Linh → Station 49 Bach Dang → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh waiting room → Hoa Lu Stadium waiting room → 1 Vo Van Tan → Ben Thanh metro station (exit at gate number 4) - pick up at Ernst Thälmann High School bus stop → Dormitory 135 Tran Hung Dao → UEH Nguyen Van Linh.
Route 2 : Depart from Dam Sen → Trung Vuong Hospital Waiting Room (Phu Tho Stadium) → Station 635 3/2 Street → Nguyen Tri Phuong University → Nguyen Chi Thanh Dormitory → Nguyen Van Linh University.
Route 3: Depart from 1 Vo Van Tan → Ben Thanh metro station (exit at gate number 4) - pick up at Ernst Thälmann High School bus stop → Dormitory 135 Tran Hung Dao → Nguyen Chi Thanh Dormitory → UEH Nguyen Tri Phuong → UEH Nguyen Van Linh.
Route 4 : Depart from UEH Nguyen Tri Phuong → Nguyen Chi Thanh Dormitory → UEH Nguyen Van Linh.
Route 5 : Departs from UEH Nguyen Tri Phuong → UEH Nguyen Van Linh.
Thus, the UEH Shuttle bus route will have 2 additional routes at Ben Thanh stop connecting to metro line 1. According to the school representative, connecting to metro line 1 not only helps save travel time but also brings a modern transportation experience, in line with the trend of sustainable development.
UEH Shuttle bus is a fast bus service with routes, trips and stops specifically designed for staff and students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics to travel from the city center to Nguyen Van Linh campus, at a price of 5,000 VND/trip.
Students use metro line 1
Many public bus routes connect to metro line 1
Previously, on December 22, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City officially opened urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line). Metro line No. 1 starts from Ben Thanh station (District 1), moving through the following stations: City Theater, Ba Son, Van Thanh Park, Tan Cang, Thao Dien, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, High-Tech Park, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Suoi Tien Bus Station. Total travel time is about 30-32 minutes (including stopover time at stations). Travel time between stations is 1-2 minutes.
With the above itinerary, students from many universities and colleges located near these routes can use the metro to travel from home to school or between training facilities.
To facilitate the use of this public transport, Ho Chi Minh City has about 150 electric buses serving 17 new routes connecting to metro line 1.

- Van Thanh Station - Vinhomes Central Park (route 160).
- Van Thanh bus station - Ga crossroads bus station (route 161).
- Man Thien Apartment - Hoa Lu Secondary School (route 162).
- Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade - Phuoc Binh Secondary School (route 163).
- Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry - Topaz Apartment (route 164).
- Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry - High-Tech Park (route 165).
- National University - Suoi Tien (route 166).

Of the 17 electric bus routes, there are 2 routes connecting to Ho Chi Minh City National University Station, serving the travel needs of students and residents in the Ho Chi Minh City National University urban area, including routes 164 and 166.
In addition, the Public Transport Management Center (HCMC Department of Transport) also informed about traditional bus routes connecting to metro station No. 1.
