On July 7, Can Tho University held the opening ceremony of the first postgraduate course in 2024. This time, the school enrolled 605 students for various majors, including Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh (87 years old, Ninh Nieu district, Can Tho city).
Present very early, neat in a simple shirt, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh is the oldest graduate student of Vietnamese literature in the 2024-2026 school year at Can Tho University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - President of Can Tho University - congratulated the students and postgraduates who were admitted to the graduate programs. The university also created favorable conditions for students to study and conduct scientific research, promoting their learning experiences from the university system to continue researching and conquering knowledge.
"Today, there is a very special student, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh. Mr. Thanh was a former student of the school in the early days of its establishment. Mr. Thanh was admitted to a master's degree in Vietnamese literature, which demonstrates a very valuable spirit of studiousness and lifelong learning," Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh informed.
Accordingly, Mr. Thanh received the "Elderly people with lifelong learning spirit" scholarship in 2024, worth 24 million VND.

Associate Professor Dr. Mai Van Nam - Head of the Graduate School (Can Tho University) - added that this scholarship was awarded to Mr. Thanh in this school year. If Mr. Thanh has good academic performance in the next school year, the school will also consider continuing to support him with the scholarship.
Previously, Can Tho City Association for Promotion of Education also awarded a certificate of merit and the 2024 "Adults never stop learning" scholarship to Mr. Thanh.
Standing on the podium, Mr. Thanh expressed his deep gratitude to Can Tho University for granting him a scholarship to support his studies. "Studying is a never-ending journey, I will strive to study continuously to achieve a master's degree...", Mr. Thanh's eyes shone with determination.
