On January 19, at the construction site of the new Phong Chau bridge investment project (Phu Tho province), Railway Construction Corporation (RCC) mobilized human resources and equipment to successfully transfer the steel span No. 5 of the old bridge to the temporary pier according to the planned schedule.

Informing Giao thong Newspaper, Mr. Vo Van Phuc, General Director of RCC said that the collapse of Phong Chau bridge due to the impact of storm Yagi caused great damage to people and property, disrupting traffic on National Highway 32C.

Quickly overcoming the consequences and speeding up the investment progress of Phong Chau bridge construction is an urgent task, putting the project into operation in 2025. To ensure the progress of the new bridge construction, the dismantling of the remaining part of the old Phong Chau bridge is very important, requiring urgent and urgent progress to have a site for the construction of the new bridge.

However, the relocation of the steel girder span was very complicated. The span was 66m long, while the construction conditions were on a fast-flowing river, the site was narrow, and many construction sites were arranged at the same time, and the dismantling progress was urgent to serve the construction of the new bridge.

With experience in constructing many railway and road bridge projects, including the relocation of old bridges, RCC was entrusted to carry out this difficult project. The chosen solution was to level the span of the truss to the downstream side to create a flat surface for the construction of the lower structure of the main bridge, then dismantle the steel truss on the temporary piers of the walkway.

"RCC has arranged a team of experienced engineers, skilled workers and the most modern construction equipment, organizing construction in 3 shifts/day to achieve the overall schedule of the project. Up to now, the extremely important part has been completed: Successfully leveling the span, ensuring safety in all aspects", Mr. Phuc excitedly said and informed that RCC will continue to focus on dismantling this steel girder span.

Affirming brand and reputation on railway and road projects

Mr. Phuc emphasized that the screening and dismantling of the old Phong Chau bridge's steel girder span is only a small task but it is of great significance to RCC, as it has contributed to an important and urgent project; at the same time, it continues to affirm RCC's capacity, experience and reputation in the construction of works and projects. Especially in railway construction in general, railway bridges in particular, with similar solutions in special construction conditions: organizing train operations while constructing.

Steel girder span No. 5 of the old Phong Chau bridge has been successfully transferred to a temporary pier, so that the construction contractor has a surface to construct the new bridge.

The most notable project of RCC is the construction of Da Phuc bridge Km20+202 on the Dong Anh - Quan Trieu railway line. This is a special railway bridge project, the bridge girder is 110m long, 15m high, the girder weight is 550 tons, constructed under conditions of ensuring railway and waterway traffic safety at the same time. RCC chose the option of installing the girder on the yard, then launching the girder longitudinally across the river (moving longitudinally) on a temporary pier system, then leveling the girder horizontally into the train running position (into the center of the line).

Or in 2021, RCC completed Package XL-CY-07: Construction of 13 bridges from Thua Thien Hue (Km 681+884 bridge) to Quang Ngai (Km 939+419 bridge) under the project of Upgrading weak bridges and reinforcing anti-collision pillars of the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line (7,000 billion VND project). This package includes the Km939+419 railway bridge, with a steel girder span of 67.4m, the construction conditions must ensure train safety. RCC has implemented the construction plan to install the girder on the excavation floor, then level the girder and the train running position.

Most recently, on December 22, 2024, RCC completed the horizontal screening of the 66.4m long, 263-ton steel girder span of Luong Muc Bridge Km230+680 on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line into train running position.

These are just some of the RCC projects that have been successfully constructed over the years. Thereby, maintaining the leading enterprise brand in the railway and road construction market through typical projects.

These are the first-class railway bridge project: Thinh Ky bridge Km42+272 on the Hanoi - Pho Lu railway line; special-class railway bridge: Da Phuc bridge Km20+202 on the Dong Anh - Quan Trieu railway line; CP 3C package: Project to improve the safety of railway bridges on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line (ODA capital).

Along with that, the road bridges: An Dong Bridge belongs to the coastal road project of Ninh Thuan province, the longest span length is 140m; Nhat Le 2 Bridge, Nhat Le 2 Bridge project in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province; Cua Viet Bridge, Cua Viet Bridge construction investment project, Gio Linh and Trieu Phong districts, Quang Tri province...

Prepare to enter the open railway market

RCC General Director Vo Van Phuc said that to achieve the current achievements and reputation, RCC has had a process of building and growing for more than 50 years associated with the history of railway development and contributing to the development of the country's railway and road infrastructure.

Railway Construction Corporation, formerly known as the Railway Construction Union Enterprise, was established in 1973, with the task of constructing, renovating, repairing, expanding, and renewing bridges, roads, architecture, and signal information works in the railway industry. After the victory in the spring of 1975, the country was reunified, the unit participated in the construction and restoration of the North-South Thong Nhat railway line and many other works, ensuring smooth railway traffic and serving transportation.

The period 1993-2018 was a period of strong transformation for the corporation.
