Spain broke the record for the number of goals scored at Euro 2024 when they defeated England 2-1 in the final at the Olympic Stadium (Berlin, Germany) in the early morning of July 15 (Vietnam time), thereby winning the fourth championship, a record at this tournament.

Substitute Mikel Oyarzabal's 86th-minute winner was also La Roja's 15th goal of the tournament, surpassing the 14 scored by France on their way to Euro 1984 glory.

"I did my job. I did what I had to do at all times to try to help my teammates," Oyarzabal expressed his joy after the match.

"I was quite lucky to bring home the victory. Just being able to play in the Euro final, that was very meaningful. But having a moment to help the team with a goal like that for me was the best thing," Oyarzabal added.

Spain also became the first European team to win four consecutive major tournament finals, winning Euro 2008, 2012, 2024 and the 2010 World Cup.

At 63 years and 23 days, De La Fuente is the third oldest coach to lead a team to a Euro final, after Luis Aragones also with Spain in 2008 (69 years and 337 days) and Otto Rehhagel with Greece in 2004 (65 years and 330 days).

However, De La Fuente is the first coach to score a hat-trick of Euro titles with the U19, U21 and national teams.

Coach De la Fuente shared his feelings: "I couldn't be happier. To see the fans, to see the players. A real team, European champions.

I said I was proud and today I am even prouder. It confirms who we are. For me, Spain is the best team in the world and today I confirm that."
