The above vehicles travel through continuous curves, small radius, which were invested from district roads to provincial roads, have limited visibility, pass through residential areas and schools on the route... potentially causing traffic safety problems.
Therefore, to ensure traffic safety and order, avoid accidents and protect the traffic infrastructure on route DT.578b, the Department of Transport has sent an official dispatch requesting the People's Committee of Dong Ha City and the People's Committee of Trieu Phong District to direct the police force to increase patrols, control and handle cases of speeding and reckless driving; and vehicles transporting goods showing signs of violating load regulations.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chief of Office of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, said that after the Vietnam Road Administration banned passenger vans with more than 30 seats and trucks with more than 6 axles from traveling on the Cam Lo - La Son expressway from April 4, 2024, the traffic volume of large trucks and heavy trucks traveling on provincial road DT.578b was very high, posing a risk of traffic accidents and causing rapid deterioration of the traffic infrastructure on this route.
In particular, provincial road DT.578b is a level 6 plain road, the road cross-section is very narrow, along both sides of the road there are many schools, commune People's Committee headquarters, markets and many houses close together, with consecutive curves close together.
Faced with this situation, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has directed the Traffic Safety Committee of Dong Ha City and the Traffic Safety Committee of Trieu Phong District to increase patrols, control and handle violations. Currently, the police force of Trieu Phong District has organized speed monitoring; the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has directed the Department of Transport to arrange a mobile vehicle weighing station on this route.
Thanks to that, the traffic of large trucks and containers has decreased significantly recently. The Department of Transport has also directed the route management unit to fully supplement the signaling system, add speed limit signs, paint speed bumps on curved sections, school areas, and densely populated areas...
Regarding this issue, Quang Tri newspaper published on April 19, 2024, an article titled "Trucks and container trucks rumble through village roads, people are worried".
