No discipline for Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai

(Dan Tri) - The Inspection Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee decided not to discipline Mr. Phan Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

On March 27, the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission announced its 31st session. One of the highlights of the announcement was the failure to discipline Mr. Phan Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

According to the Inspection Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, as Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Hieu is jointly responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the department's leadership in leading and directing cadres, civil servants, public employees and affiliated units to perform the task of advising the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on managing scientific research and technology development activities.

Mr. Hieu is personally responsible for the violations and shortcomings in not seriously performing the duties of a Party member and the duties of a cadre and civil servant as prescribed by law. Mr. Hieu's violations and shortcomings are serious enough to require disciplinary action.

However, the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee found that Mr. Hieu's violations and shortcomings had objective causes.

During the review process, Mr. Hieu had a change in his awareness of personal responsibility, seriously reviewing himself before the Party cell where he worked. Mr. Hieu also accepted personal responsibility for his limitations, shortcomings, and violations and requested to continue working and striving in the coming time.

Based on the working regulations and voting results at the meeting, the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee decided not to apply disciplinary action against Mr. Phan Van Hieu.

Mr. Phan Van Hieu (born in 1973) has a PhD in Economics. Before holding the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai province, Mr. Hieu was Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Province Cooperative Union, Deputy Secretary of the Nghia Hanh District Party Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations.

During his tenure as Deputy Secretary of Nghia Hanh District Party Committee, Mr. Hieu was quite tough in requesting inspections of signs of violations by a number of officials and businesses.

While holding the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Hieu also reflected on many issues showing signs of violations in the implementation of provincial-level science and technology tasks.
