After a serious traffic accident that caused many casualties in Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau district, the authorities conducted a survey, determined the traffic situation in the area, checked alcohol and drug levels, and decided to initiate criminal proceedings, detain and arrest the driver of the passenger car involved in the accident.
The heartbreaking cries of the families of the victims and those present at the scene were also shocked.
Ms. Le Hong Nhung, Thin village, Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau, Son La: "I am still scared, because at that time, people were thrown from the car, and there were other people, including the father of the child, who ran out of the car and told me to save him. He lost one arm, one arm was broken in several places, and when he got to the road, he fainted."
The cause of the accident was determined to be due to rain, slippery road surface, the driver of the passenger bus with license plate 26F-009.08 could not control the speed, so when turning, the rear half of the vehicle was thrown into the opposite lane and collided with a tractor with license plate 36C-095.93 pulling a semi-trailer with license plate 36R-004.73. Immediately after the accident, the authorities and people quickly took the victim to Yen Chau District General Hospital for initial first aid.
Doctor CKI, Tran Thi Hue, Deputy Director of Yen Chau District General Hospital, Son La: "Immediately after receiving the information, our hospital activated the red alert, mobilized doctors, nurses, and first aid to triage patients. We have received 9 patients with serious accidents for treatment and initial first aid, 2 patients have been treated and stabilized."
Last night, the forces urgently rescued the victims. By about 3:30 a.m., all the victims had been taken to hospitals for treatment and traffic was cleared.
Captain Le Trung Dung, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Mai Son District Police, Son La: "We have coordinated with the Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police and related units to urgently move the bodies of the victims of the accident. We urgently deployed and made efforts to remove the body of the victim who was stuck in the car from the scene. After 15 minutes, we moved it to the car and handed it over to the family."
The serious accident killed 6 people and injured 9 others. Immediately after the accident, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and Yen Chau District, were present at the scene to direct the work of overcoming the consequences, visit and encourage the families of the victims and provide initial support, to help the families overcome difficulties soon and request the authorities to urgently investigate the cause of the accident.
Mr. Lu Van Cuong, Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee, Son La: "Directing and visiting the victims, the victims who are being treated at the district hospital. There has been support from the district and provincial levels to help the victims reduce some of the difficulties and feel secure in their treatment".
The breath alcohol test of the bus driver showed a result of 0.000 mg/L of breath, negative for drugs. This morning, the Investigation Police Agency, Son La Provincial Police, issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings, detain and arrest the driver in an emergency situation in the accident, to investigate the accident in accordance with the law.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, cold air will continue to occur in the province, causing fog and slippery conditions on many roads. People need to comply with the correct speed and keep a safe distance when traveling to ensure safety when participating in traffic.
