Taeyang is making the BTS fan community angry with his statement.
Taeyang - a member of the group BigBang - recently had a New Year's interview with CNN. In it, reporter Hanako Montgomery asked the male idol: "You and BigBang are truly pioneers in making K-Pop a global phenomenon. How do you feel when you look at how K-Pop has taken the world by storm?".
In response to this question, the artist born in 1988 replied: "Fortunately, we were able to open the door to the global market for many groups that came after us, and they were able to perform on world-famous stages. I don't think we were pioneers in that, but it's great to see that our efforts contributed a part."
After the interview was released, Taeyang’s social media accounts received a series of angry comments and criticism from BTS fans. The reason for the anger was because Taeyang acknowledged BigBang as the group that paved the way for K-Pop, while fans believed that the 7 boys of Bighit were the pioneers who spread Korean music internationally.
BigBang fans have now spoken out in response, showing their support for their idols. However, the situation is becoming increasingly tense. In fact, this is not the first time the two fan communities have clashed with each other. Previously, BigBang fans and BTS fans often criticized each other, arguing about which group is the "King of K-Pop".
