Ha Du Danh was a character that caused strong emotions in the 2022 School Support season. At that time, Danh entered university with the uncertainty of being homeless, his father passed away at the age of 4, and his mother was in the Social Protection Center of Thua Thien Hue province.
"I'm still having a hard time but I want to share, teacher."
In the hallway of the scholarship award ceremony for the "Tiep suc den truong " program in Hue on the afternoon of October 9, Mr. Nguyen Thien Tong, a special benefactor for many years of this humanitarian scholarship program, gave us a text message from the person he said was "a poor boy but rich in filial piety".
In a message to the person who helped him, Ha Du Danh said that he was in his third year at Da Nang University of Technology. Hearing that there was an upcoming scholarship award ceremony for new students in difficult circumstances like himself, Danh said that he had saved a small amount of money to send to Mr. Tong to share.
"I still have a lot of difficulties, but I have managed to study through the third year of university. I am grateful to you and the donors. I would like to send you some money to help disadvantaged students. I hope you will accept my heart, and if I have more in the future, I will help more" - Danh's message to Mr. Tong. Attached to the message was the amount of 200,000 VND transferred to the account.

Mr. Tong "boasted" that he had been doing scholarships for many years, but this was the first time he received a special scholarship, from a special benefactor, and in such a special story.
"Since receiving the scholarship in 2022, Danh has been in regular contact with me. He reports on his academic results, talks about his dreams and plans, and asks about my health. Although he is an orphan and his mother is mentally ill, Danh is very understanding and respectful," said Mr. Tong.
Mr. Tong said that in 2022, when checking the scholarship list, he saw Danh's name on the list with a few lines of sympathy. Danh lost his father at the age of 4, and his mother was sent to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Social Protection Center for mental treatment. Since childhood, Danh was also raised in a loving home.
Danh's story was sadder before he entered university. His older brother was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, but after finishing the first year, he had to drop out because he didn't have the money to continue.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online over the phone from Da Nang, Danh said that after receiving the 15 million VND scholarship, he paid the tuition fee. This money was like a life buoy that helped Danh get through the most difficult days.
When he became a student, Danh lived in a dormitory. In addition to studying, this fatherless boy spent his time serving coffee, working in restaurants, and delivering orders for the postal service. All his efforts were directed towards the ultimate goal of getting a university degree and graduating.
Despite the difficulties, Danh said that he is now stable, knows how to survive in hardship, and has achieved good academic results over the years.
Danh also said that his mother - Doan Thi Huong - is still being treated at the Thua Thien Hue Social Protection Center for mental health, and that the two brothers are still homeless. Occasionally, he travels from Da Nang to visit his mother.

Seeing her son becoming more and more resilient, Mrs. Huong cried every time, but she was not sober enough to know what her son was going through.
Regarding the 200,000 VND scholarship to Mr. Nguyen Thien Tong, Danh said that he always worries and wishes that one day he will have money to help other new students who have had difficulties like him.
When he learned that Mr. Tong was collecting money to prepare for the program "Supporting new students to Hue and Quang Ngai schools ", Danh saved 200,000 VND from his tutoring job and sent it to his benefactor.
"I am grateful to Mr. Tong and the donors. If it weren't for the 2022 scholarship, I wouldn't be a university student now.
I will try to study hard and be strong so that when I graduate I can work. At that time, earning money will help more new students" - Danh said.
