Exchange and give advice to help Da Nang enter the era of national growth

In his opening speech, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh affirmed that over the past 95 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people have taken miraculous steps on the path of national liberation, national construction and development. From a semi-feudal colony, Vietnam has become an independent nation with increasingly high international status, position and prestige recognized by the international community.

During those 95 years, the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang city have always had full faith in the Party, strived to overcome difficulties and challenges, innovated and created, and risen from the "cradle of the Central revolution" to become a dynamic and key city of the Central region and the whole country.

From 1997 to present, with the favorable conditions of a city directly under the Central Government and specific policies and guidelines such as Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW and Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW, the city has made remarkable progress. The average growth rate of the total social product in the area reached more than 9%/year; compared to 1997, the budget revenue in the area increased more than 25 times; the average income per capita increased more than 20 times.

The economic structure is shifting in the right direction; tourism and services are gradually becoming key sectors. In 2024, the city will welcome nearly 11 million visitors, equal to 135% compared to 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic); the city is known as a prestigious venue for hosting international events such as: APEC 2017 Summit Week, International Fireworks Festival, Asian Film Festival.

By 2024, Da Nang has established official friendship and cooperation relations with more than 50 localities of 24 countries and territories around the world. Da Nang always ranks high in the Provincial Competitiveness Index and Administrative Reform Index; Da Nang city has been at the top of the Vietnam ICT Development and Application Readiness Index for 14 consecutive years; and has received the Vietnam Smart City Award 5 times in a row.

Along with economic development, the city always focuses on social security with humane policies expressed through the City Programs "5 no", "3 yes", "4 safe". Da Nang's human development index is always in the top 5 localities in the country. The city focuses on building civilized and friendly Da Nang people, as the foundation for building a peaceful and livable city.

According to Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh, in the 95th year since the establishment of the Da Nang Party Committee and the 50th year since the liberation of the city, Da Nang has gone through many ups and downs to develop. In the process of growing up, besides the brilliant milestones, Da Nang also had some stumbles and shortcomings. Through that, many valuable lessons in the process of fighting for national liberation and building and developing the city have been drawn.

“Promoting the revolutionary tradition, with the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement and the desire to rise up, finding new motivation for the rapid and sustainable development of the city, today's Workshop is of great significance for the Party Committee, government and people of the city to have an objective and scientific view of history, to listen to research results, share, exchange and contribute ideas for orientations and solutions for the city's development in the new period, together with the whole country entering the era of national development", emphasized Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh.

At the Workshop, delegates exchanged and discussed contents to affirm the correct and wise leadership and direction of the Party and the Da Nang City Party Committee since its establishment in 1930; the socio-economic achievements of Da Nang over the 50-year journey of development and integration as well as proposed ideas and solutions for the City Party Committee to work with the people to build Da Nang to develop, achieve the set goals and visions, towards the era of national growth; in the immediate future, strive to achieve the target of an average annual GRDP growth of 2 digits or more.

On this occasion, the city leaders presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and Labor Heroes in the renovation period to express gratitude for the contributions and honor the heroic and advanced examples in combat and heroic sacrifice of generations of fathers, cadres and soldiers of units participating in the liberation of the city for the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.
