BDK.VN - According to the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, as of March 26, 2025, the Project to invest in the construction of a saltwater dike combined with a traffic route connecting the coastal districts of Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu (also known as the North - South road) phase 2 has reached 92% of the implementation volume, phase 1 has been completed.

Specifically, in Thanh Phu district, Thanh Loi bridge, Bang Cung bridge and asphalt pavement have been completed; the remaining sub-items are being implemented, such as reinforcing the slope of Bang Cung bridge.

In Ba Tri district, the following bridges have been completed: Phu Le, Ba Tri 1, Ba Tri 2. The road surface has been completed for 11/16km; the roadbed is being sanded and crushed stone is being graded for the new section. The section through Binh Dai district has been completed. The total investment for phase 2 is 569 billion VND.

The project has been completed in stages, not continuously due to land issues.

The project of dike to prevent salinity and traffic route connecting Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu districts has a total length of 39.3km, divided into 2 implementation phases. Of which, phase 1 implemented from 2018 - 2021 has been completed, while phase 2 is continuing to be implemented in the period from 2021 - 2025.

The investment project to build a dike to prevent saltwater intrusion combined with a traffic route connecting the coastal districts of Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu has been upgraded to Provincial Road 881 (DT.881) by the Provincial People's Committee, inter-district Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu, in Decision No. 2167/QD-UBND, issued on September 23, 2022.

The starting point of DT.881 is at km0+000 adjacent to National Highway 57B (km65+695), Binh Thoi Commune, Binh Dai District, Ben Tre Province. The ending point is at km41+035 adjacent to Co Chien River, Binh Thanh Commune, Thanh Phu District, Ben Tre Province.

On Highway 881, there are 10 bridges including: Sau Chiem Bridge, Phuoc Tuy Bridge, Phu Le Bridge, Ba Tri 1 Bridge, Ba Tri 2 Bridge, Bang Cung Bridge, Ma Thanh 2 Bridge, Cong Da 1 Bridge, Cong Da 2 Bridge, Thanh Lai Bridge.
