"Joining Messi at Inter Miami? I don't know yet. I'm going on vacation with my family and then we'll see what happens," Suarez told reporters at Salgado Filho airport in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on December 8 when he said goodbye to Gremio to return home.
Many Gremio fans came to the airport to say goodbye to Suarez.
"I want to thank the Brazilian people and the Gremio fans for the love they have shown me. This is very important for me and my family," Suarez said after the final match day with Gremio at the end of the season in Brazil.
Suarez signed a two-year contract with Gremio, but in his first year, the 36-year-old Uruguayan won the hearts of Brazilian fans. He scored a total of 29 goals and had 17 assists in 53 matches in all competitions.
Suarez is also recognized as a part of Brazilian football history, helping Gremio FC finish 2nd in Brazil's Serie A and qualify for the 2024 Copa Libertadores (like the Champions League in Europe).

The Gremio club's board of directors did not want to part ways with Suarez, but because the famous player wanted to reunite with his close friend Messi with the promise to retire at the same club, the two sides arranged to reach an agreement to terminate the contract 1 year early from this summer.
"This agreement makes Suarez a free agent. After a break with his family, Suarez will travel to Miami (USA) to sign a one-year contract with Inter Miami, with the option to extend for the next year, but it will also depend on how the player's knee reacts (due to the injury)," AS said.
