The return of the striker with ideal physique

Coach Troussier has just announced the list of the U.23 Vietnam team that will gather on June 5, according to the FIFA Days schedule. The French coach has called 25 names, including 5 strikers. Besides the rather surprising appearance of Vietnamese-American midfielder Nguyen An Khanh (currently playing for U.19 Sigma Solomouc), fans also witnessed the return of striker Vo Nguyen Hoang.

Vo Nguyen Hoang is a player who is not unfamiliar to the audience. The striker born in 2003 is an outstanding striker in youth tournaments such as U.19, U.21 (in the PVF - Hung Yen Youth Training Center) and is also a regular in national teams at this age. Besides, Coach Troussier himself also really likes the striker from Dong Thap. In the past, Nguyen Hoang violated discipline at PVF and faced the penalty of having to leave the center. However, the "White Witch" who was then the Technical Director of PVF "spotted" Hoang so he intervened so that this player could continue to stay and train.

Nguyen Hoang is a modern center forward with a good physique. The striker from Dong Thap is over 1.8 m tall, thick-skinned, so he can press well. In addition, he also has a pretty good left foot and has a relatively diverse finishing ability. This player who grew up at the PVF training center also has a rather cold playing style and strong personality. Those are the reasons why Nguyen Hoang is highly appreciated by Mr. Troussier.

Nguyen Hoang is an outstanding striker in youth tournaments such as U.19 and U.21 national teams.

This striker born in 2002 is the core of Coach Troussier's strategy to aim for the U.20 Asian Cup, to win a ticket to the U.20 World Cup 2021 and further on the national team. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the U.20 Asian Cup was canceled and Coach Troussier also said goodbye to U.19 Vietnam shortly after. At the 29th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019, the 21-year-old striker was called up by Coach Park Hang-seo to join U.22 Vietnam. However, at that time, he was too young to compete with experienced strikers like Nguyen Tien Linh and Ha Duc Chinh.

In the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Nguyen Hoang was also tested in the V-League in the Saigon FC shirt, under the guidance of coach Vu Tien Thanh. Mr. Thanh once revealed to Thanh Nien that coach Troussier was the one who introduced the striker born in 2002 to the Thong Nhat Stadium team. Despite his lack of experience, Hoang has performed quite well in the highest tournament in Vietnam.

After coach Vu Tien Thanh left Saigon FC, Vo Nguyen Hoang also returned to Pho Hien FC to play in the first division. In April 2022, the 21-year-old striker suffered a knee ligament injury and took a year to recover. This was also the main reason why he was not included in the list of U.22 Vietnam participating in the 32nd SEA Games. When coach Troussier submitted the preliminary list of U.22 Vietnam to the organizing committee of the host country Cambodia, Nguyen Hoang had not yet fully recovered from his injury. Therefore, the French coach did not risk including the name of the Pho Hien FC striker. Meanwhile, the preliminary list was not changed. Unfortunately, Hoang will no longer have the opportunity to participate in another Southeast Asian Games because by 2025, he will be 23 years old.

With his return to the U.23 Vietnam squad, Vo Nguyen Hoang will have the opportunity to compete fairly with his teammates in the same position. In addition to the striker from Dong Thap, Coach Troussier has called up 4 strikers: Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Van Tung (Hanoi Club), Nguyen Quoc Viet (HAGL) and Bui Vi Hao (Binh Duong Club). In this group, Nguyen Hoang and Van Tung are the 2 strikers with the most impressive physique.

This gathering and the two friendly matches of U.23 Vietnam with Hanoi Police Club and Hai Phong Club will be an opportunity for Vo Nguyen Hoang to demonstrate his ability. If he performs well, Coach Troussier will continue to give him the opportunity in the 2024 U.23 Asian qualifiers.
