(Dan Tri) - Social networks are buzzing with a TikTok clip showing a teacher unboxing an iPhone 16 gift box given to her by her class.

Over the past two days, social media has been buzzing with a TikTok clip showing a teacher opening a gift box given to her by her class. In the clip, which has nearly 1 million views, a group of students surround the teacher to witness her opening the gift, an iPhone16 box.

The author who posted the clip is said to be a student in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh province).

In the comments section, many people said that the gift was too expensive, the market price of this smartphone is about 30 million VND, not suitable as a gift for teachers.

However, students in the class argued with netizens to defend the teacher, asserting that she was very good and deserved such a gift.

Comments left under the clip also stated that each student contributed 1 million VND/person to buy this gift for the teacher. The gift purchase was approved by the students and received their parents' consent.

The 31-second clip immediately received great attention from the online community.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, a leader of Ha Long city (Quang Ninh province) said the clip was just a misunderstanding.

"The iPhone 16 box is just a gift box. Inside, the students put small photos of the teacher. The teacher and students opened the gift together, creating a surprise for the teacher. The clip was edited and posted online by the students for fun, accidentally causing misunderstandings," the leader said.

The leader also sent the original clip, fully recording the scene of her opening the gift. Inside the iPhone 16 box were just portrait photos of the teacher printed by the students in the form of stickers for her to stick on the phone case as a souvenir.

In addition, the main gift that the students bought for their teacher was a simple pair of jeans. The teacher asked, "Do you know my size?", the group of students said in unison, "Yes, size M."

The teacher expressed surprise and emotion at these gifts.

Giving teachers expensive gifts is hurting them.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hen - a retired teacher in Quang Ninh - shared that she was very happy to know that the gift that the student gave the teacher in the clip was not an expensive phone.

Ms. Hen also emphasized that students and parents should not give expensive gifts to teachers, even if the purpose is to express respect, love, and gratitude.

"Parents and students should not think that giving teachers expensive gifts is a worthy way to show gratitude. On the contrary, this action can easily hurt the recipient.

A self-respecting teacher would feel embarrassed accepting expensive gifts from parents and students.

If it is a gift from an individual student or parent, the teacher will more or less question the genuine concern and love.

If it is a gift from the class, the teacher will wonder about cases where families are not well-off but still have to contribute to buy a gift for her.

In many cases, teachers want to return gifts but cannot. While if teachers receive them, they do not feel happy or comfortable.

I hope parents and students understand the teachers' mentality," Ms. Hen confided.

In addition, Ms. Hen said that material gifts of higher value than the usual level rarely receive consensus. Many parents agree to contribute reluctantly. Some may post the incident on social networks. This will damage the teacher's reputation.

According to Ms. Hen, expensive gifts are only suitable in some cases such as when a student has grown up and achieved success and returns to give gifts to express gratitude to his old school or old teachers, or when a teacher is in especially difficult circumstances and the gift helps her overcome her difficulties...
