Rumors of Coach Polking leaving Vietnam

Coach Polking may soon leave Hanoi Police Club.

The reason for Mr. Polking's departure is said to be due to the capital team's unsatisfactory performance. Currently, CAHN has almost no chance of competing for the V.League championship this season. Besides, this coach can also return to lead a team in the Thai League.

The Brazilian-German strategist officially took over as head coach of Hanoi Police Club in May 2024. Under his leadership, the team is currently ranked 6th in the V.League 2024/25 standings with 22 points after 16 rounds, 9 points behind the top team, Nam Dinh Steel Blue, while there are only 10 matches left in the season.

Sources confirmed that Coach Polking's future will likely be decided after the Shopee Cup semi-finals - a Southeast Asian club tournament. Hanoi Police will face Indonesian representative PSM Makassar on April 2 and April 30.

The former head coach of the Thai national team still has a contract with the police club until 2026. If they want to end the cooperation early, the Hanoi Police Club will have to pay a significant compensation.

This season, Coach Polking has continuously posted on his personal page criticizing the quality of the V.League. He said the pitch is bad, affecting the team's playing style and reducing the professional value of the tournament.

However, that cannot erase the unconvincing performance of Hanoi Police Club. The team owns the top players in the league but the achievements are not commensurate.
