On the afternoon of October 8, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department coordinated with the Provincial Department of Information and Communications and the Provincial Journalists Association to organize a regular Press Information Conference combined with the October 2024 Press Conference.
At the regular press conference, representatives of the Forest Protection Department and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development quickly informed representatives of press agencies in the province about forest damage, forest protection and forest fire prevention after storm No. 3. Accordingly, the forest area damaged by storm No. 3 was over 117,000 hectares, with damage ranging from 30-100%, accounting for over 30% of the existing forest area (of which nearly 50% were planted forests). It is estimated that there were about 6 million tons of highly flammable materials at the scene of the damaged forest. According to the report, after storm No. 3, there were 9 forest fires in the province, with a burned forest area of over 57 hectares. Localities mobilized more than 1,300 people from the Forest Protection Department, Police, Army, and local forces to directly participate in forest fire fighting.
Discussing with representatives of press agencies about some tasks and solutions for forest protection, forest fire prevention and forest reconstruction after storm No. 3, representatives of the leaders of the Forest Protection Department and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized some contents, such as: Strengthening propaganda to raise awareness and responsibility for forest fire prevention and fighting; completing the zoning of forest fire risks and forest fire prevention plans after storm No. 3; urgently implementing plans to clean up and sanitize damaged forest sites, prioritizing the construction of firebreaks in zoning areas to prevent the risk of fire spreading over large areas that are difficult to control; organizing the signing of commitments with 100% of forest owners not to burn materials and vegetation at damaged forest sites on sunny, dry days; Strengthen patrols, inspections, and guidance on implementing forest fire prevention plans, prepare human resources and equipment to proactively respond to and handle forest fires... At the same time, inform some immediate solutions to overcome damage caused by natural disasters, reforest and rebuild the forestry sector after storm No. 3.
Also at the conference, the representative of the Provincial Youth Union also quickly informed the press agencies about the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Ninh province, term 2024 - 2029. Accordingly, the Congress will take place in 2 days, October 19 and 20, 2024; the slogan of action for the term 2024-2029 is: "Quang Ninh Youth Pioneer - Solidarity - Creativity - Development". The Provincial Youth Union Committee continues to identify 10 key targets of the term and propose tasks and solutions to implement 1 movement and 1 program during the term.
At the Press Conference, after listening to a quick report on the results of press work and information and propaganda activities in the press in September 2024, tasks for October 2024 and some quick information on the key activities of the Provincial Journalists Association in the coming time, Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Nhan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, requested press agencies to continue to inform and propagate on key contents: Party building work and the political system, focusing on the preparation work for organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 16th Quang Ninh Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030; tasks and solutions for socio-economic development in the last months of the year to strive to complete the growth target and the working theme for 2024...
At the same time, continue to inform and propagate about the leadership and direction of Quang Ninh province and the efforts, attempts and companionship of people and businesses in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3; propagate the celebration of major holidays and important historical events in October 2024 of the country and the province...
The Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department also requested that press agencies continue to inform and propagate the contents provided, discussed and clarified by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincial Youth Union at the regular Press Information Conference.
