Before the friendly match with Syria on June 20, coach Philippe Troussier decided to promote Thai Son, Duc Phu and Van Viet from the Vietnam U23 team to the Vietnam national team.

The decision surprised many people because all three players do not have much international competition experience and are very young.
However, one of the names mentioned above has proven Mr. Troussier's decision extremely reasonable.
Playing alongside Tuan Anh in the center of midfield, Thai Son showed his mature playing style, observational ability and intelligent movement.
Almost all of Vietnam's attacks go through the midfielder of Thanh Hoa.
Although small, Thai Son's endurance and pressing ability are very impressive.
He moved continuously, putting pressure on the opponent's defense and one of those situations opened the door for Tuan Hai's goal.
After the match, Tuan Hai, Tuan Anh and Quang Hai were mentioned a lot by the media, but Thai Son deserved the praise.
Before that, he also performed quite well at SEA Games 32 in the U22 Vietnam shirt.
With such a premise, Thai Son is expected to be a bright factor, inheriting the Vietnamese midfield which already has many stars.
This is also a step that shows Mr. Troussier's unified thinking. He does not distinguish between the national team and U23. The two teams must blend their forces with the ultimate goal of increasing the strength of the national team.
From Thai Son's case, young players will surely have more motivation to strive for the opportunity to join the national team.
