Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) will sponsor 160 billion VND for Vietnamese science and technology in 2023, bringing the total sponsorship value in 5 years to 800 billion VND.
VinIF is a non-profit program of Vingroup Corporation, aiming to change the research environment, contributing to bringing Vietnamese science to international level. In 2023, with the support of the Scientific Council including 400 prestigious domestic and international experts, through evaluation rounds, VinIF has sponsored 16 new science and technology projects.
In addition, the unit sponsors 300 master's and doctoral scholarships, 90 post-doctoral scholarships, 8 projects and 17 cultural and historical events, many data science master's training cooperation programs with 6 projects. The fund also sponsors and promotes the organization of conferences, seminars, and public lectures.

This is the fifth consecutive year that VinIF has accompanied science and technology, contributing to creating positive and sustainable changes. To date, the Fund has supported more than 3,000 scientists and researchers through pioneering training cooperation projects, postgraduate scholarships and activities to preserve the unique historical and cultural values of the nation.
The program has had over 1,000 works published in prestigious international journals, 200 scientific awards, 500 products of all kinds, and 70 inventions. The rate of commercialized and technology transferred projects reached 21% and 50%. The VinIF Alumni Club brings together over 1,500 members including young scientists with many knowledge exchange events, contributing to spreading VinIF's core values to the community.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony on January 16, Prof. Vu Ha Van, Director of Science of VinIF, said that after 5 years, the program has achieved many results in terms of changes in thinking and commercialization of scientific products. In particular, the fund promotes a generation of young researchers who are honest, creative and responsible to the country.
"These achievements are the driving force for VinIF to continue to innovate and create, joining hands with managers, universities, and research institutes to create greater turning points for Vietnamese science," emphasized Professor Vu Ha Van.

Also at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Hong Thai assessed that 2023 will have many positive signs of change when the strategy for developing science, technology and innovation in Vietnam until 2030 has been approved by the Prime Minister, emphasizing the importance of resources from enterprises. The Fund's support contributes to supporting thousands of scientists, developing many strong research groups at universities, supporting product commercialization through research and development (R&D), and enhancing Vietnam's science and technology potential.
The Deputy Minister also proposed that VinIF research the priority directions and national products approved by the Prime Minister so that it can work with ministries and branches to focus resources on new and high technologies. From there, units will form new industries and new products with high added value; focusing on areas where Vietnam has strengths such as agriculture, manufacturing and processing industry, services, information technology or pioneering in technology of Industry 4.0.
Mr. Tran Hong Thai expressed his confidence that VinIF Fund, along with many other funds and businesses, will join hands to build a modern and developed Vietnamese science and technology industry, and build a prosperous and happy country.

On the part of VinIF, the unit hopes to not only bring large non-profit financial resources to science but also contribute to creating many positive changes in the culture of scientific research. The activities will attract Vietnamese intellectuals to return to the country, promote new science and technology sectors, and actively contribute to the development of Vietnamese science.
