On the afternoon of August 5, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Le Van Dung met to commend, award a certificate of merit and a bonus of 200 million VND to male student Do Phu Quoc (grade 12, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Hoi An), for his excellent silver medal win at the 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad.
The two teachers who trained Do Phu Quoc, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang and Mr. Doan Van Mien (Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted), were also awarded certificates of merit and a bonus of 30 million VND each by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
“This is a prestigious award that Quang Nam students have won for the first time, proving the achievements of the education and training sector, promoting tradition and deserving to be a land of learning. I wish Do Phu Quoc to continue to strive in his studies, become a talent of the country, and bring glory to his homeland Quang Nam” - Mr. Le Van Dung said.
It is known that the 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad (held in Saudi Arabia at the end of July) attracted more than 300 excellent students from 89 countries and territories around the world. The Vietnamese delegation had 4 students participating and won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal by Do Phu Quoc.
In 2023, Do Phu Quoc won a gold medal at the Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad (the Vietnamese team won 4 gold medals and 4 silver medals). The competition attracted 15 participating countries and was organized by Uzbekistan.
