At the 58th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO) held in Shenzhen (China) recently, Vietnam sent its first-ever contestants and all 10/10 students won prizes. Among them, Le Thanh Dat, a 12th grade Chemistry major at Lam Son High School for the Gifted, won the Bronze Medal.

The IMChO, also known as the Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad, is one of the world's largest and most prestigious competitions for young chemists organized by the Faculty of Chemistry of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Melnichenko Foundation. It is considered a preparatory competition for the International Chemistry Olympiad.
The 58th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad took place from April 20 to April 27 with the participation of 151 contestants from 26 countries and territories. The exam consisted of 3 rounds, each lasting 5 hours. In rounds 1 and 2, contestants took the theory test, and in round 3, they took the practical test. The Organizing Committee awarded 15 gold medals, 30 silver medals and 45 bronze medals.

With 10/10 contestants winning prizes, Vietnam ranked third overall, after China and Russia.
