Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, the demand for confectionery, especially moon cakes, is increasing.
Besides reputable production and business establishments with guaranteed quality products, there are still some organizations and individuals that do not comply with food safety conditions and trade in products of unclear origin.
Across the country, in recent days, economic police and market management forces have continuously discovered and seized large quantities of smuggled moon cakes. Authorities have inspected, detected, and handled a series of violations, destroying hundreds of thousands of smuggled moon cakes.
In Quang Nam, in many localities, along with the amount of cakes from big brands such as "Kinh Do", "Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest", "Bibica", "Huu Nghi", local moon cake production units such as "Thai Binh", "Bao Hung"... have the same amount of cakes produced as previous years.
In addition, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival continues to witness homemade cakes and eye-catching advertisements appearing on social networks. Therefore, controlling the quality of these products requires the active participation of management agencies.
The name of the violating facility will be made public.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Cam said that this time, the delegation will inspect food production, processing and trading establishments in Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen districts and Hoi An city.

In particular, priority is given to establishments producing and trading confectionery, soft drinks, trading nutritional products for children, traditional foods produced in craft villages, small-scale establishments, food service establishments...
The inspection content includes checking the administrative and legal records of the facility, product declaration, product labeling, checking food safety conditions, product advertising, etc.
Through inspection, if establishments and products that do not ensure food safety are discovered, promptly trace and recall products, request correction or recommend strict handling of violations and publicize the name of the establishment, address, and type of violating products on mass media.
Together with the inspection team, the Provincial Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety issued Plan No. 2191 dated August 23, 2024 on implementing food safety work during the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival in the province.
Accordingly, in addition to implementing inspection activities, sectors need to strengthen information and propaganda activities on food safety, and strongly communicate to production facilities and consumers about compliance with food safety regulations.
For food production and trading establishments, the Quang Nam Food Safety Department recommends that it is necessary to comply with legal regulations on food safety, regulations on facility conditions, equipment and tools, requirements on knowledge and practice of people directly involved in production, regulations on the origin of food ingredients, regulations on registration of declarations, self-declaration of products, use of colorants, flavorings, additives, food packaging, product labeling...
For consumers, localities need to provide guidance on selecting, processing, preserving and using safe food; only buying and using food and food additives with full labels and clear origin; not using food additives not on the list, not for the right subjects, not in prescribed doses...
