Russian MP Shevchenko told the press on November 14 that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) Valery Zaluzhny had proposed to President Volodimir Zelensky to establish a "robot army" that could replace Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield in the future.
Last summer, General Zaluzhny, as a member of the Ukrainian delegation, visited the United States, where he attended a robotics exhibition in New York.
He then became very enthusiastic about the idea of creating a "robot army" and even suggested that President Zelensky buy a certain number of these machines to counterattack and penetrate Russia's defenses.
MP Shevchenko noted that General Zaluzhny has long been an advocate of a high-tech army. In an interview with The Economist magazine, where he spoke about “stalemate on the battlefield”, the Commander-in-Chief also spoke about the need for technological progress.
To deal with the latest battlefield challenges, such as minefields, tank traps and concrete bunkers, Ukraine needs to continue to innovate with new battlefield technology.
Earlier this week, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Gavrylov revealed that the country is now prioritizing the creation of “combat robots” – or unmanned logistics platforms to evacuate wounded soldiers.
Meanwhile, on November 14, Director of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, said that the conflict in Ukraine could last for years without any agreement or legal solution. However, he also said that although the conflict would last for a long time, there would be no fierce fighting.
