On March 26, at the Asia House, within the framework of the activities of the ASEAN Committee in Copenhagen, the Vietnamese Embassy coordinated with the Embassies of the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia to organize the ASEAN-Denmark Business Forum.

The Forum was attended by nearly 50 guests representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Industry, the Chamber of Commerce, the State of Green Organization, and many large Danish corporations and companies such as Carlsberg, AP Moller-Maersk, DSV, ECCO, Grundfos, CIP, etc.

In his welcoming speech, Philippine Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim, Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Copenhagen, welcomed the large participation of Danish organizations and businesses, showing their interest in the Southeast Asian market.

Ambassador Leo Herrera Lim emphasized that ASEAN is a very dynamic region with an important geostrategic position, located in the heart of the Indo-Pacific region.

As a region with high economic growth rate, a potential market in many fields with a population of more than 670 million people, an economy of about 3,800 billion USD, it has been attracting many European investors, including Denmark.

At two discussion sessions focusing on production, market, logistics, green transformation, and digital transformation in the region, representatives of a number of businesses investing and doing business in ASEAN countries highly appreciated the investment and business environment of countries in the region, saying that in addition to the abundant labor force, ASEAN is emerging as a logistics center in the region, with an increasing number of young, high-quality human resources actively participating in the green transformation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

These are necessary conditions and are consistent with the investment and business criteria of Danish enterprises. However, many enterprises assess that infrastructure, including transport infrastructure, still has many limitations, the legal framework is not synchronized, and administrative procedures in some countries are still cumbersome... are barriers to expanding production and business activities.

Businesses also said that, based on the advantages and potential of ASEAN countries, many large Danish enterprises continue to invest and expand production and business in the region.

In his concluding remarks at the Forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi, on behalf of the ASEAN Committee in Copenhagen, highly appreciated the frank and open opinions of the speakers, as well as the business and investment activities of Danish enterprises in the ASEAN region.

Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi emphasized that ASEAN is quickly becoming one of the most dynamic and promising regions in the world for business investment with a large population, the third largest GDP in Asia and the fifth largest globally, and strategically located between major global markets such as China, India, and Australia.

Sharing that ASEAN countries are actively integrating into the regional and international economy through initiatives such as the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), trade agreements such as RCEP and ASEAN's FTAs ​​with major economies, including the EU, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi emphasized that ASEAN is becoming an attractive investment and business destination as global economic and geopolitical trends shift, with dynamic economies that adapt quickly to new changes such as digitalization, cross-border trade, green transformation, circular economy and sustainable development.

Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi affirmed that ASEAN is a large market, a logistics hub, a production base and a potential partner in the green transition, as well as in many other areas, for Danish businesses.

Calling on Danish businesses to increase their presence and investment and business activities in ASEAN, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi affirmed the support and assistance of countries in the region to create a favorable business environment and mutually beneficial cooperation.

On this occasion, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi also informed that Vietnam - an ASEAN member country, is entering a new era of building a rich and prosperous country and is vigorously implementing three strategic breakthroughs including institutions, infrastructure and human resources. Vietnam will work with ASEAN countries to improve the investment and business environment to become an attractive destination for foreign enterprises, including Danish enterprises.
