Rich kite market

Every year, in March, in the afternoon, in the vacant lots of residential areas of Thien Long, Hoang Phat, Trang An (Bac Lieu City), there are many people gathering to fly kites. Taking advantage of this opportunity, small traders switch to selling kites to earn extra income.

At stationery stores, children's toy stores and grocery stores, since the beginning of the year, many types of kites have been imported to satisfy people's entertainment needs.

According to retailers, kite products are selling quite well these days, with 10-15 kits sold per day. Kites come in many varieties, with many sizes, designs, colors and shapes, such as: shark kites, superhero kites, phoenix kites, ghost kites, princess kites, cartoon characters... with prices ranging from 50,000 - 500,000 VND/kit. For kite enthusiasts, they also invest in super-large kites with prices ranging from several million to tens of millions of VND/kit. Kite strings are also very diverse, from fishing line, parachute cord, nylon string... with prices ranging from 5,000 - 55,000 VND/roll depending on material and length.

Kite flying is not only a hobby for children but also attracts adults. Many kite clubs have been established and become places to connect people with the same passion, thereby helping kite sellers to "make a living".

Kite flying is a healthy entertainment after tiring hours of studying and working. However, when flying kites, people should choose open spaces, avoiding areas with power lines and passing vehicles to ensure their own safety as well as not obstructing traffic.
