"Driving force for sustainable development in the North Central region"

On the morning of March 21, Comrade Le Duc Giang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a working session with the Vietnam Clean Water and Environment Association led by Chairman Chu Pham Ngoc Hien. The meeting aimed to unify policies and prepare conditions for coordination in organizing the Workshop "Green Transformation: Driving Force for Sustainable Development in the North Central Region". Also attending the meeting were leaders of local departments, branches, and related units.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Vietnam Clean Water and Environment Association informed about the purpose and content of the workshop "Green transformation: Driving force for sustainable development in the North Central region".

Accordingly, the workshop will have the participation of scientists, experts in the field of green economy, circular economy and leaders of 6 provinces in the North Central region. This is an important forum, expected to promote the green transition process in the region, towards harmonious development between economy and environment.

The workshop aims to assess the current status and potential of green transformation in the region from the perspective of policy, business and locality. From there, discuss and propose the issuance of mechanisms and policies to support green transformation, especially in the fields of circular economy, renewable energy, resource management and environmental protection.

Leaders of the Vietnam Clean Water and Environment Association reported on the content and purpose of the Workshop "Green Transformation: Driving force for sustainable development in the North Central region".

The workshop also shared practical experiences of businesses that have implemented green transformation and proposed successful models that can be applied in the North Central region. Connecting state management agencies, businesses, research organizations and local communities, to jointly build practical and effective solutions for sustainable development.

The main content of the workshop is expected to focus on the following issues: Green transformation policies and orientations in Vietnam and the North Central region; circular economic models and sustainable development in industry, agriculture, and services; challenges and opportunities for businesses in the green transformation process...

Also at the meeting, the leaders of the Vietnam Clean Water and Environment Association informed about the preparation work for the conference. At the same time, they requested the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to host, pay attention to creating conditions, and coordinate in implementing a number of related tasks, in order to successfully organize this conference.

Speaking at the end of the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang affirmed that Thanh Hoa has great potential to develop green economy, circular economy, and renewable energy. This is reflected in the high average annual surface water resources, at 21.05 billion m ³ . The whole province has 632 irrigation and hydropower reservoirs with a total existing storage capacity of 2.15 billion m ³ , the useful capacity for annual use is 1.41 billion m ³ ; 54 centralized clean water supply projects with a capacity of about 419,810 m ³ /day and night and 506 centralized water supply projects (self-flowing) with a capacity of about 34,040 m ³ /day and night. In addition, there are currently thousands of industrial production establishments with different large, medium and small scales in the province...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang delivered a speech concluding the meeting.

Based on the country's development orientation, Thanh Hoa province has urgently issued the Action Plan on green growth for the period 2021-2030 with 8 main groups of tasks and solutions. From there, it has proactively gradually shifted the economy to circular economic development and green growth.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the Workshop "Green Transformation: Driving Force for Sustainable Development in the North Central Region" is a major forum to discuss and recommend specific solutions to promote the green transformation process, raise awareness and responsibility of businesses and the community, and create motivation for the province to strive for double-digit economic growth. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to host and closely coordinate with the Vietnam Clean Water and Environment Association to successfully organize this workshop.
